Rangers: Danny Rohl forced to give Max Aarons one last chance to prove himself vs Falkirk
Rangers could be without James Tavernier and Dujon Sterling against Falkirk in the William Hill Premiership on Saturday.
Danny Rohl confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the captain won’t be available for selection due to an injury, while the former Chelsea ace is a doubt due to the artificial pitch in Stirlingshire.
As a result, Max Aarons will surely be in contention to start the Gers’ final game of the season as the German manager looks to avoid the embarrassment of losing five games on the bounce.
The Bournemouth loanee hasn’t really lived up to expectations at Ibrox, but he may have one last chance to prove himself at Falkirk Stadium on 16 May.
Rohl could potentially be forced to use Aarons, who hasn’t started a league game since the 2-1 loss to Hearts in December, and his possible display will be one to keep an eye on.

Max Aarons has mountain to climb at Rangers
If Aarons is to convince Rohl that he should stay at the Gers, he will have to put in one of his best-ever performances against Falkirk.
In 20 William Hill Premiership appearances this season for the Light Blues, the 26-year-old has scored one goal and created one big chance, as per Sofascore.
The English defender has played in a more attacking role at times, averaging 0.4 key passes per game and winning one penalty.
| Statistics | Max Aarons |
| Appearances | 20 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Big chances created | 1 |
| Accurate passes per game | 21.2 (87%) |
| Interceptions per game | 0.4 |
| Tackles per game | 0.9 |
| Clearances per game | 0.7 |
| Balls recovered per game | 1.2 |
| Total duels won per game | 2.6 (67%) |
| Successful dribbles per game | 0.5 (63%) |
Defensively, the right-back has kept two clean sheets and recorded 0.4 interceptions, 0.9 tackles, 1.2 ball recoveries and 0.7 clearances per game.
Aarons has come out on top in most of his ground duels, winning 72 per cent of them, while also completing 63 per cent of his dribbles.
Danny Rohl could change Max Aarons stance at Ibrox
James Tavernier is leaving Rangers at the end of the season and it won’t be the sending off many had expected after he withdrew from the squad against Hibernian.
The Gers certainly need to prioritise adding a right-back, maybe two, following the 34-year-old’s departure and due to Sterling’s persistent fitness issues.

If Aarons puts in a convincing performance at Falkirk Stadium, Rohl may decide to keep him and further reinforce the defence in the summer.
With multiple players on their way out of Ibrox, stability will surely be key ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and the 26-year-old Bournemouth ace could potentially be one of the loan players the Glaswegian outfit decide to retain.
