Derek Ferguson rings Rangers alarm bells, but Andrew Cavenagh likes Danny Rohl
Derek Ferguson has lost faith in Danny Rohl at Rangers as James Tavernier bowed out without featuring at Ibrox on Wednesday.
The former Gers midfielder sees the feud between the German manager and the right-back as the last nail in the coffin for him.
Ferguson has raised alarm bells regarding the 37-year-old head coach after the Light Blues captain withdrew from the squad ahead of the 2-1 loss to Hibernian on 13 May.
Despite some question marks about the former Sheffield Wednesday boss, Gordon Dalziel claimed that an insider has suggested the American owners like him.
Andrew Cavenagh looks set to back Rohl in the upcoming transfer window, but a section of the Govan side’s fanbase clearly doesn’t trust him any more.

Danny Rohl must avoid Rangers embarrassment vs Falkirk
Speaking on Open Goal on 15 May, Ferguson said, “That’s alarm bells for me, with what happened last night as well. So we’re already questioning him with the bottle side when it comes to the split. Still hasn’t won a game. Probably won’t win a game again because I don’t fancy them on Saturday. But that was a final nail in the coffin for me, what he did with Tavernier. Just total disrespect. Don’t like it.”
Dalziel added, “The only thing I will say, I’ve heard [from an insider] that the owners like him.”
Rohl left himself between a rock and a hard place as the Gers lost to Hibs after the entire drama with Tavernier.

The Light Blues have now lost four on the bounce for the first time since 1983, and it could be five if John McGlynn gets the better of the German manager at Falkirk Stadium on 16 May.
With the performances against Motherwell, Hearts, Celtic and Hibernian less than encouraging, the ex-Owls boss is under extreme pressure at Ibrox.
There have been calls from some supporters to replace Rohl ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, citing his record in big games, but it will ultimately be down to Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises.
Russell Martin repeat on cards at Ibrox
Russell Martin was heavily backed at Rangers before the hierarchy eventually realised their mistake 17 games into the season.
The American owners put their weight behind the former Southampton boss until it was too radical to do so, with the environment around Ibrox turning toxic.

It looks like Cavenagh and the 49ers have complete faith in Rohl, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them pull the plug on him if supporters in G51 start making a ruckus.
The German manager already seems to be on thin ice at the Glaswegian outfit and his future will be one to keep an eye on.
