Rangers: Tim Sherwood grimaces at Mikey Moore footage as Celtic controversy continues

Rangers have been backed by Tim Sherwood as the Mikey Moore controversy from their clash with Celtic continues.

The Gers were furious that Alistair Johnston was not awarded a red card for his wild lunge on Tottenham loanee Moore.

The game was 1-1 when the Canadian defender fouled the Light Blues ace in the 39th minute, and Danny Rohl‘s side went on to lose 3-1.

If Johnston had been sent off, the game and the Bears’ season may well have gone a completely different way.

Rangers have seen their title chances go up in smoke, and many pointed to that decision as a key moment.

What did Sherwood say on Celtic vs Rangers controversy?

Sherwood has joined a debate that has already seen Rangers get support from many pundits, including the likes of Michael Stewart and Kris Boyd.

He was asked about several recent controversial calls from Scotland, and his reaction to the Moore one was telling as he grimaced about the challenge on the young winger.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on 14 May, he said: “Oh. This is a red – 100 per cent.

“Watch Mikey’s left leg. [Johnson goes] over the top of the ball, onto the ankle. Red card.”

Why Rangers fans are rightfully angry

Sherwood is slightly biased, in the fact that he supports Spurs, and that is where Moore is on loan from.

However, that does not make his view any less important, it was clear for anyone to see that it was a blatant red card.

Unfortunately, for Rohl’s side, nothing will happen, and their season has already gone down the drain after a miserable run of four losses in a row.

Rangers’ standings in the league table.

The debate will continue to rage on about the Hoops getting favourable decisions, which have kept them in the title race, especially as they were handed a penalty in the dying embers to beat Motherwell 3-2.

Without that, they would have been three points behind Hearts, needed a huge goal different shift on the final day at Parkhead.

Instead, they are one point behind, needing only to beat the Jambos by any score, rather than having to thump them by a heavy one.

Gers fans will be hoping and praying that Derek McInnes side get the job done, rather than having to watch Martin O’Neill’s side lift the trophy.
