Tam McManus hits out at Rangers for ‘shocking behaviour’ in James Tavernier bust-up
Tam McManus has been left unimpressed by Rangers and their treatment of James Tavernier.
The Englishman looked set to make his final appearance at Ibrox in the penultimate game of the season against Hibernian.
When the starting XI was named, the Govan faithful were surprised to see that the skipper wasn’t in the matchday squad at all.
Reports of a bust-up between Danny Rohl and the right-back quickly emerged, although the German was quick to shut those down.
That hasn’t shaken McManus’ frustration as Rangers played out a 2-1 loss against Hibs without their captain available.

Tam McManus fumes at James Tavernier treatment on social media
There was absolutely nothing to play for from a Light Blues point of view as David Grey’s side continued their hunt for European qualification.
The only thing for fans to look forward to was a chance to wave goodbye to a club legend for the final time on the pitch.
| Stat | James Tavernier |
| Appearances | 565 |
| Goals | 144 |
| Assists | 148 |
The performance ultimately summed up recent frustration, something that was only made worse by the skipper’s absence.
A report from the Scottish Sun suggested that a behind the scenes arguement broke out when the defender found out he was on the bench for his final game in G51.
He stormed out and refused to play before returning to Ibrox to pick up a recognition award from Gers legend figure John Greig.
That gave him a chance to see supporters and receive a deserved reception, but it wasn’t enough for McManus, who was left fuming on X.
He simply said: “Shocking behaviour ie Tavernier.”
Rohl and Tavernier ruined the chance of a Rangers goodbye, with the German and the Govan club picking up plenty of negative reviews in the aftermath.
What did Danny Rohl say about Tavernier situation at Rangers?
It’s fair to say the Light Blue boss has turned many fans against him in recent weeks, following a string of negative results and performances.
That has only been made worse by the reported treatment of Tavernier, which has ruined his chance of a final Ibrox outing.
The irony is that Rohl doesn’t see it that way and has suggested that injury is actually the reason for the Englishman’s absence.
Pre-match, he said: “He had a medical issue on Monday, and unfortunately, there was a question mark if he’d be available today. I made my decision he would not start today because he was not 100 per cent.

“There was no conflict. Me as a manager has to make the decision for the starting line-up. It was very clear, I was honest with him to say he would get minutes today because he deserved a great goodbye.”
This seems to be a bit of a cop out from the head coach, who has clearly upset Tavernier with his actions, even if he tries to defend them.
