James Tavernier tears, fans cheer on Celtic: Three things you might of missed in Rangers vs Hibernian
James Tavernier cut an emotional figure as Rangers fell to a 2-1 defeat against Hibernian on Wednesday.
The skipper was looking ahead to his final appearance at Ibrox after confirming that his 11-year spell in Govan would be done at the end of the season.
That made the news that he was absent from the matchday squad all the more bizarre, but an argument between the right-back and Danny Rohl solved that mystery.
The Englishman reportedly withdrew himself from the side after being informed he would be starting on the bench, before returning to wave goodbye to the Gers faithful.
Rangers ultimately drew with Hibs in the penultimate game of the season, as Ibrox News rounds up what you might have missed in G51.

James Tavernier cries during Ibrox farewell
It is a sorry end to what has been an iconic run for the defender in Govan.
It isn’t quite clear what has happened between him and Rohl, but it stopped him from getting on the pitch for a 566th showing for the Light Blues.
| Stat | James Tavernier |
| Appearances | 565 |
| Goals | 144 |
| Assists | 148 |
That didn’t stop him from picking up an award for his service to the Govan club as Ibrox legend John Greig handed him a silver trophy pre-match against Hibs.
Tavernier was serenaded by the Bears faithful before that and was clearly emotional as he wiped tears from his eyes.
That continued into the trophy presentation before Creig consoled him as the two played out a heartwarming scene.
Tavernier and Rohl’s bust-up ruined a historical Rangers moment, but at least he got to have his moment with the fans.
Hibernian fans celebrate Celtic goal vs Motherwell
The limited coverage of the Ibrox clash is due to the ongoing title battle between Hearts and Celtic ahead of their final-day meeting.
With the Maroons winning 2-0 at home to Falkirk, Martin O’Neill’s side needed to pick up all three points away to Motherwell to keep their Scottish Premiership hopes alive.
The Well did take a 1-0 lead after 17 minutes, but Benjamin Nygren was able to put the Hoops 2-1 up just 41 minutes later with an excellent effort.
That delighted the Hibernian fans as it represented a blow to their nearest rivals, while also leaving a dagger in the Ibrox faithful as it handed their Old Firm rivals a continued title chance.
Liam Gordon nearly left them with eggs on their faces with an 85th-minute equaliser, before Kelechi Iheanacho scored deep into added time.
The title race now goes down to the last day and could give those Hibernian fans something to celebrate as well as their own potential European qualification.
Martin Boyle mocks Rangers skipper James Tavernier
It’s clear that the Tavernier situation was noticed by the away side, even with its proximity to kick off in Govan.
That wasn’t lost on Martin Boyle when he opened the scoring with an excellent volley after just five minutes in G51.
His goal was superb, but his celebration didn’t go down well.
The 33-year-old replicated Tavernier’s iconic golf swing celebration as he let the Copland Stand know about it.
Supporters weren’t best pleased, but it’s safe to say he got the last laugh as his Hibs side eventually ran out 2-1 winners.
