Rangers: Bayer Leverkusen join race for Danny Rohl appointment amid Ibrox uncertainty
Rangers manager Danny Rohl seems to be in demand, with Bayer Leverkusen the latest club linked with a move for him.
According to Fussball Transfers on 11 May, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, and other members of the hierarchy have the 37-year-old head coach on their radar to succeed Kasper Hjulmand in the summer.
The news outlet reports that the German manager is among the candidates to take over at BayArena ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
It was only a few seasons back that Leverkusen won the Bundesliga title under Xabi Alonso in 2024 and they’ve now set their sights on the Gers’ boss.
Rohl’s future at Ibrox is being questioned by fans and pundits in G51, but it seems like Andrew Cavenagh is fully behind him for now.

Danny Rohl in demand amid Rangers scrutiny
VfL Wolfsburg have also been linked with Rohl in recent weeks, although the former Sheffield Wednesday boss has dismissed the rumours.
The German manager has claimed that he’s determined to stay at Ibrox and win silverware in the near future.

While Rohl looks committed to his job at the Light Blues, the same can’t be said about some section of the fanbase, who want him gone after losing back-to-back games against Motherwell, Hearts and Celtic.
Clubs in the Bundesliga seem to rate the relatively young head coach highly and the Glaswegian outfit may regret losing him if he leaves soon.
Ibrox chatter to change Danny Rohl stance
Rohl has come in for some heavy criticism from Rangers supporters after an unceremonious end to their William Hill Premiership title hopes.
The German manager was appointed midway through the season when the Gers were 13 points behind Hearts and will surely feel he has done enough to deserve some faith from the Ibrox faithful going into next season.

With tensions at the Glaswegian outfit only expected to get worse if Rohl can’t turn things around, as seen with previous head coaches, he may be forced to step down in the coming months.
The former Owls boss is away from his wife and kids in Govan and could potentially think staying in G51 isn’t worth it if the pressure continues to mount.
