Kenny McLean to Rangers transfer demand issued as Ibrox rebuild on cards
Kenny McLean could help improve Rangers after a move from Norwich City in the upcoming transfer window.
That’s what Charlie Mulgrew feels as the Gers have been urged to add more Scottish and British talent to their squad in the summer.
Barry Ferguson brought up Lewis Ferguson as a possible option to fix certain issues at Ibrox.
Mulgrew agreed with his compatriot and brought up McLean’s name as another option the Glaswegian outfit should look at ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Andrew Cavenagh is expected to back Danny Rohl at the Govan side and fans in G51 are expecting the American owners to invest in more homegrown talent in terms of recruitment.

Kenny McLean thrives under former Rangers manager Philippe Clement
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 11 May, Ferguson said, “There has been a lot of chat about that. I don’t want to start rumours, but I think Lewis would be key. The problem you’ve got there is that he’s worth a lot of money. But he’s the type of profile that you would be looking to get at Rangers.”
Mulgrew responded, “I totally agree with that. And also, somebody like Kenny McLean would potentially be a player who could help out in that department.”
McLean is an experienced defensive midfielder who has been handed 55 caps for the Scotland national team.

The 34-year-old isn’t getting any younger, but the Gers may need to add a bit more experience to their squad to deal with the adversities they’ve faced in recent weeks.
With the lack of leadership in the middle of the park, the Light Blues have been outworked by Motherwell, Hearts and Celtic in back-to-back losses.
Philippe Clement’s appointment at Norwich in November 2025 has seen an upturn in their form, with McLean playing a pivotal role as captain.
The Scotsman’s current contract at Carrow Road was set to expire at the end of the season, but an option to keep him for another year has been triggered.
Lewis Ferguson’s agent speaks out amid Ibrox links
Lewis has been linked with Rangers over the last few years, but his move to Ibrox doesn’t look likely anytime soon.
The Bologna midfielder’s agent has admitted that while the 26-year-old would be open to leaving the Serie A outfit, his priority will be to move to a top team in Europe’s top five leagues, effectively putting the Gers out of the running.

Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb on 11 May, Ferguson’s agent said, “He would consider offers from any of the top five footballing countries, with Italy and England being his first choices. Lewis is more than happy to stay at Bologna, but he is equally ready to take on any new challenge to advance his career.”
Fans and pundits alike have been calling for the Govan side to add more Scottish presence to their squad for next season, but it remains to be seen what Rohl’s plans will be if he stays on as manager.
