Bobby Clark: RB Salzburg midfielder back on Rangers’ radar – Celtic also circling

Bobby Clark is reportedly a player that Rangers are looking at once again ahead of the summer transfer window.

With their 2025-26 Scottish Premiership title hopes now down the drain, Ibrox chiefs will now be shifting focus to the summer transfer window.

Whether it’s Danny Rohl who will lead Gers into it is another question, but regardless of who is in the dug out, these past few weeks have made it frustratingly clear that this group needs more quality adding to it.

One such option could be Clark, who has recently returned to Austrian side RB Salzburg after spending the 2025-26 season on loan with English Championship outfit Derby County.

However, if Rangers are to get a transfer deal done, they may well have to present a more convincing sales pitch to him than their Glaswegian rivals, Celtic.

What’s the latest on Rangers’ interest in Bobby Clark?

Rangers were strongly linked with Clark in this season’s summer transfer window, and reports at the time suggested Gers came fairly close to landing his signature.

However, the 21-year-old instead opted to join Derby on loan for the 2025-26 season, snubbing any potential Ibrox switch.

But, with his 2025-26 season with Derby now done after the Rams failed to make the EFL Championship play-offs, the former Liverpool academy graduate is now back with parent club RB Salzburg.

His future there looks uncertain though, and in a fresh report from the Daily Record on Tuesday, this summer could finally see destination Ibrox come true for him.

The report claims that Clark is “back on the agenda” for Rangers, with his long-term Salzburg future in some doubt despite the fact he’s contracted with the Austrians until the summer of 2029.

It’s also claimed that Celtic are mulling over a potential swoop for the versatile midfielder too, which could scupper Gers’ plans to bring him to Ibrox once again.

How did Clark fare with Derby County?

2025-26 saw Clark enjoy his most prolonged experience of senior football so far in his young career, playing 45 times in all competitions for Derby.

42 of those came in the EFL Championship, with 33 being starts, culminating in just shy of 3,000 minutes of league action under his belt.

He scored three goals and provided three assists in English football’s second tier, playing a huge hand in the Rams’ eighth-placed finish, which was a massive improvement upon their 19th-placed campaign of 2024-25.

As per FotMob, Clark took 46 shots on goal in the Championship this past season, whilst also creating 29 chances, completing 37 successful dribbles, winning 167 duels and taking 87 touches in the opposition box respectively.

So, with a very impressive 2025-26 campaign in the books and still with so much untapped potential at 21, Clark would certainly bring flair and excitement to Ibrox if Rangers can strike a summer deal.
