Danny Rohl sack: ‘Time to twist’ for Rangers and Andrew Cavenagh after loss vs Celtic
Danny Rohl should be replaced by Andrew Cavenagh after Rangers lost 3-1 to Celtic in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
That’s what Keith Jackson believes after the Gers lost another Old Firm derby at Parkhead on 10 May.
The Daily Record journalist has been less than impressed by the 37-year-old head coach’s record against more experienced managers like Martin O’Neill since taking over at Ibrox.
The German boss suffered his third straight defeat since the start of the post-split fixtures as the Light Blues have seen their title hopes disintegrate after losses to Motherwell, Hearts and Celtic.
Andrew Cavenagh seems to be behind Rohl for now, but it remains to be seen whether growing fan sentiment against the former Sheffield Wednesday boss will make the American owners rethink things in Govan.

Danny Rohl on thin ice after Rangers loss vs Celtic
Writing in the Daily Record on 11 May, when asked whether Cavenagh should stick or twist with Rohl, Jackson said, “It’s time to twist. Rohl has cobbled together just three wins from 12 games against Martin O’Neill, Derek McInnes, Jens Berthel Askou and John McGlynn. He’s being outmanoeuvred regularly by more experienced managers.”
Before the Motherwell game, momentum was on the Gers’ side as they had the title in their hands.
Had the Light Blues won every post-split game, they would have guaranteed number 56 at Ibrox and the German manager would certainly have gone down in history for it.

Rohl was appointed the Glaswegian outfit’s head coach at a time when they were 13 points off the top in the league and he certainly deserves a lot of credit for getting them back into contention in the William Hill Premiership this season.
While the former Owls boss did wonders initially, serious questions are now rightly being asked by supporters in G51 as the Govan side have been crushed under pressure.
At some point, there needs to be a thorough review of the last few weeks at Ibrox as Rohl has let a massive opportunity slip from his hands.
Andrew Cavenagh to be tempted with Ibrox change
Steven Gerrard is still available for Rangers to pursue in the summer if they end up sacking Rohl.
The Liverpool icon was being touted as the next Gers boss after Russell Martin’s departure, but it didn’t end up happening at that time.
Cavenagh has another opportunity to pursue the league title-winning boss if he were to decide to end the experiment with the German manager.
Rohl is still young and is someone the Govan side can surely build a project around, but the need for immediate success makes Gerrard’s return certainly sound appealing.
