Rangers teammates must take responsibility as Andreas Skov Olsen frightens Derek Ferguson
Rangers haven’t got the best from Andreas Skov Olsen in their push for the William Hill Premiership title.
Derek Ferguson wasn’t impressed with what he saw from the Denmark international at Tynecastle Park as the Gers lost 2-1 to Hearts.
The former Light Blues midfielder feels the 26-year-old isn’t up to the standard at Ibrox as he continues to opt for the safer option in games.
Ferguson wants the Glaswegian outfit’s players to have a go at the forward, who’s on loan from VfL Wolfsburg until the end of the season.
Skov Olsen’s move to Ibrox in the winter transfer window includes an £8.6million option to buy, which surely won’t be triggered, given his performances at the Govan side.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Andreas Skov Olsen future sealed at Rangers
Speaking on Open Goal on 7 May, Ferguson said, “It was Skov Olsen right away. I couldn’t take my eyes off him when I was watching that game. Frightening. Sometimes you don’t want to criticise him, but he was brought there for one reason: to try and win us a title, to be the game-changer. And you look at a guy going through the motions. Just not at it whatsoever.
“It looks to me that he’ll just take the wages, see it out until the end of the season and find something else. What I can’t believe is that the other players don’t get after him. That’s a gripe for me. Because he gets the ball and he’s got an opportunity to get the full-back and he continually gets it and turns, safe. That’s not what you’re there for, mate.”
Skov Olsen joined the Gers in January with high expectations and fans hoped the former Club Brugge ace would take them back to the top.
| Statistics vs Hearts | Skov Olsen |
| Minutes played | 69 |
| xG/xA | 0.04/0.04 |
| Accurate passes | 16/20 (80%) |
| Possession lost | 6 |
The Danish national hasn’t been able to recover ever since a slow start to his stint at Ibrox and it would be surprising to see the Light Blues make his move permanent.
When the winter transfer window closed, supporters in G51 were excited to see the four new signings perform, but apart from Tuur Rommens, arguably none of them has had a significant enough impact.
After the Glaswegian outfit’s underwhelming recruitment over the last two transfer windows, Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises will surely want to go back to the drawing board to strengthen the team in the summer.
Danny Rohl responsible for stupid transfer decision at Ibrox
Findlay Curtis has impressed away from Rangers after joining Kilmarnock on loan in January.

Danny Rohl was reluctant to give the Scottish youngster regular minutes at Ibrox and ended up technically replacing him with Skov Olsen.
It can be argued that Curtis could have potentially played a bigger role than the Denmark international in the Glaswegian outfit’s title run-in.
The German manager needs to take responsibility for some of his calls at the Govan side and learn from them if he wants to remain in the Ibrox dugout for the foreseeable future.
