Rangers could have a decent player on their hands if Nicolas Raskin gets all the nonsense out of his game.

That’s how Gordon Dalziel feels, with the Belgium international’s character coming into question after the recent losses to Hearts and Motherwell.

Raskin’s strengths at the Gers are still up for debate as fans and pundits alike try to figure out what his best position on the pitch is.

On the other hand, Derek Ferguson believes the Light Blues have a problem with the 25-year-old on their hands, as Ibrox is clearly viewed as a stepping stone by him for a move down south.

Speaking on Open Goal on 7 May, Dalziel said, “Raskin to me, if he gets all the nonsense out, he’s a good football player. To me, he just looks like an arrogant guy who thinks he’s better than what he is because he’s in the Belgium squad. Tell me what he does because I look at him and say, is he a sitting midfielder, a forward midfield player, does he create things, does he open up defences?”

Derek Ferguson added, “He won’t be there next season. He made it very clear when he came to the club that Rangers were a stepping stone, and that’s a problem. A stepping stone to get down to England.”

Dalziel seems to be sick of Raskin’s antics and some Gers supporters are also starting to feel the same way.

It was only a few months back that the Ibrox faithful were chanting the midfielder’s name after he was left out of the squad by Russell Martin.

Cut to May, and a section of supporters in G51 are now wondering whether the Belgian ace has what it takes to bring success back to the Glaswegian outfit.

While the Govan side’s fans can acknowledge that players will eventually move a level up in their careers, they can’t have an air of being bigger than the club.
