Rangers: Danny Rohl commits sackable offence with Mikey Moore substitution vs Hearts
Rangers fans are starting to have second thoughts about Danny Rohl after losing 2-1 to Hearts in the William Hill Premiership on Monday.
For the first time since March 2018, the Gers have lost back-to-back league matches, and this time around, it has all but ended their title hopes.
Despite taking the lead at Tynecastle Park on 4 May, the Light Blues were unable to hold on to it as Derek McInnes changed the complexion of the game after the break, with Stephen Kingsley and Lawrence Shankland scoring for the hosts.
The German manager was outmatched by his counterpart in Gorgie, and he ended up making some strange decisions, one of them being to bring on Thelo Aasgaard for the Tottenham Hotspur loanee in the 75th minute.
Moore was arguably Rohl’s best player on the pitch against the Jam Tarts and the fact that he was substituted when the Glaswegian outfit needed him the most should be considered a sackable offence.

Mikey Moore the only one trying in Rangers loss vs Hearts
Moore is one of the few players who could leave Tynecastle Park with their heads held high after consistently causing problems for the opposition defence.
The 18-year-old wasn’t afraid to take on defenders, attempting five dribbles, something his partner on the opposite flank, Andreas Skov Olsen, was reluctant to do.
As per Sofascore, the young forward had a 79 per cent passing accuracy, made one key pass and recorded five progressive carries.
| Statistics | Mikey Moore |
| Appearances | 30 |
| Goals | 6 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Shots on target per game | 0.8 |
| Big chances created | 7 |
| Key passes per game | 1.2 |
| Successful dribbles per game | 1.5 (44%) |
The winger also contributed out of possession, with one defensive contribution, two ball recoveries and by winning three duels.
Moore is the fourth-highest goalscorer in the league for the Glaswegian outfit, has created seven big chances this season and averaged 1.2 key passes per game, leaving fans confused by Rohl’s substitution.
Danny Rohl makes matters worse with who he brings on
Aasgaard replaced Moore on the evening, and that didn’t go down well with Rangers supporters, given their feelings about the former Luton Town ace.
The Norway international has failed to win over the Ibrox faithful in the current campaign and didn’t help himself at Tynecastle Park, after losing possession seven times and recording a total ball progression of -1.6 meters.
Rohl needs to go back to the drawing board and figure out what has gone wrong, as the mid-season training camp in Spain clearly hasn’t helped the Govan side.
Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises may still be behind the 37-year-old head coach, but he’s quickly losing the fans.
