Kris Boyd dodges awkward Rangers question on Sky Sports, throws to commentary team
Kris Boyd was put on the spot with an awkward Rangers question he would rather not answer ahead of Hibernian’s clash with Celtic.
Celtic made the trip to Easter Road on Sunday lunchtime with the aim of pulling clear of the Gers and level with Hearts at the Scottish Premiership summit.
Hibs still have plenty to play for across the remainder of the season as they battle for a top-four finish with Motherwell.
However, many supporters – without perhaps admitting it – would have quietly liked Celtic to pick up all three points in the hope of preventing fierce rivals Hearts from winning the title.
Rangers-loving pundit Boyd had his say on that – sort of – ahead of the showdown in Edinburgh.

Kris Boyd ’embarrassed’ by empty Easter Road
Rangers’ focus is on beating Hearts at Tynecastle on Monday, but they could also do with a helping hand from Hibernian against Celtic.
That is the way it is going to be between now and the end of the campaign, with Danny Rohl‘s men leaving themselves with a mountain to climb after losing to Motherwell last week.
| Hearts | Rangers | |
| Wins | 27 | 89 |
| Draws | 28 | 28 |
| Goals scored | 133 | 275 |
Seeing Hearts win the title will hurt Rangers; seeing Celtic come out on top would hurt even more.
That is the scenario Hibs fans now find themselves in, with Celtic and Rangers their preferred winners – basically, anyone but Hearts.
That perhaps explains why Easter Road was far from full come kick-off on Sunday, with Boyd hitting out at those fans who stayed away.
“It’s embarrassing,” he said. “They still have a chance of finishing fourth. This place was bouncing last week.”
Boyd was later asked if he would feel the same if the shoe was on the other foot – i.e, accept Rangers losing to Hearts if their title hopes were done, say, if it blocked Celtic from winning the title.
The former Rangers striker quickly said: “We’ll hand over to [commentators] Ian Crocker and Chris Sutton.”
That sparked laughter from the studio, with Boyd not willing to give a straight answer.
Thankfully for him, there is still very much a possibility Rangers come out on top.
There is one worst-case scenario for Rangers
Again, seeing Celtic win the title at Rangers’ expense will hurt supporters more than anything.
Hearts lifting the title will not be celebrated at Ibrox, but it is the best of two evils.

There is one scenario that fills Rangers fans with dread, though. That would see Rangers beat Hearts, lose to Celtic the following week and effectively hand the title to Martin O’Neil’s side.
All Rangers can do on Sunday is beat Hearts and close the gap. Only then will focus turn to the trip to Celtic the following week.
It is as nervy as ever, but at least the Gers do still have a chance of their own.
