Rangers reluctant to lose Bailey Rice as talks open for in-demand Ibrox prospect
Rangers are determined to keep Bailey Rice despite growing interest in the midfielder ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
According to the Daily Mail on 1 May, the Gers have opened talks with the 19-year-old over extending his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
The news outlet reports that the Light Blues are reluctant to lose the Scottish youngster, who made history with his debut against Livingston in 2023 after becoming the youngest post-War player to play for the Govan side in the league.
It has been claimed that Sachalke have already made an offer for the defensive midfielder, who is also attracting interest from Nottingham Forest, Ajax, Aston Villa, Sunderland and West Brom.
Rice has been training under Danny Rohl since returning from his hamstring injury in March and it looks like the Glaswegian outfit have big plans for him at Ibrox.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Rangers have work cut out to convince Bailey Rice
Nicolas Raskin and Tochi Chukwuani have cemented their place in the Gers’ engine room in recent months.
Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande can also come off the bench if Rohl needs other options in the middle of the park.
| Statistics | Bailey Rice |
| Appearances | 7 |
| Starts | 1 |
| Minutes played | 225 |
| Accurate passes per game | 17.3 (82%) |
| Balls recovered per game | 1.7 |
| Total duels won per game | 2.0 (61%) |
The German manager will surely be looking to bolster his squad further in the summer and Andrew Cavenagh seems to be gearing up for another round of investment at the Govan side after announcing a new £16million share issue in March.
With competition for minutes at the Glaswegian outfit high, Rohl will arguably need to make some big promises to Rice to have a chance of keeping him.
Danny Rohl may not fill Bailey Rice with confidence
Rangers decided to send Findlay Curtis on loan to Kilmarnock in the winter transfer window and sign Andreas Skov Olsen to aid their title push.
Rohl was reluctant to give the Scottish forward many opportunities before his exit, which may not fill Rice with much confidence.

It has now become clear to many fans in G51 that Curtis would certainly have offered more in the race for the William Hill Premiership than Skov Olsen, whose singing has been an unmitigated disaster.
The German manager should look to integrate more young prospects and academy players in the first team next season if he wants to build a sustainable future at Ibrox.
