Rangers ‘attracted’ by £2.6m deal for Gilberto Batista as contract decision awaited
Rangers are set to lose Nasser Djiga at the end of his loan, and Gilberto Batista has emerged on their radar.
While Djiga would ideally be kept at Ibrox next season, Wolves’ relegation could see the Burkinabe defender remain, with Rob Edwards potentially using him at that level.
Previously it was reported by local Wolverhampton journalist Liam Keen that the Championship-bound side will assess the central defender over the summer.
Of course, that throws into doubt whether or not the G51 outfit would be able to bring him back to Scotland.
However, it appears that a shortlist has been drawn up over potential centre-back signings for Rangers, with Batista being linked.

What has been said about Rangers’ interest in Gilberto Batista?
Batista has been enjoying a fine campaign for Portuguese league side Moreirense, with the Green and Whites currently placed in seventh place.
However, their form have begun setting eyes on some of their top stars, including Batista, with Rangers ready to pounce.

According to Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Rangers are keeping watch over Batista’s current contract situation, and his performances have “attracted the attention” of the Bears.
Moreirense are looking to extend the defender’s deal, with an offer already handed to the 22-year-old.
Rangers, who have been namechecked as potential suitors in the summer, will be keeping a close eye, as if the centre-back rejects the deal, it could open the door to pounce.
The report goes on to state that a deal could be agreed upon around €3million (£2.6m). The interest may be linked to the future of Djiga at Wolves.

Emmanuel Fernandez example could tempt Gilberto Batista
Emmanuel Fernandez’ rise at Rangers could help Rangers convince any of their centre-back targets that a move to Glasgow is in their best interests.
The Nigerian international has been immense for the Govan-based club since signing, and that has attracted interest from numerous top sides.
A price of £40m has even been touted for the central defender, but it appears, based on Fernandez himself, he will not be leaving Rangers this summer.

Fernandez has built a formidable partnership with Djiga, so he will be disappointed if that cannot continue to prosper next season.
However, if he wants to truly prove his qualities in defence, he should be able to perform with other partners at the back.
