Emmanuel Fernandez: Charlie Adam expects Rangers to consider silly money for defender
Emmanuel Fernandez could potentially leave Rangers for the right price in the upcoming transfer window.
That’s what former Gers midfielder Charlie Adam believes as “everybody has a price” in football.
Fernandez has been linked with Borussia Dortmund recently and it wouldn’t be surprising to see top teams vying for his signing in the summer.
Adam seemingly expects the Light Blues to think about the centre-back’s exit if a significant offer is tabled.
In the past, the Glaswegian outfit have been criticised for their poor player-trading model, something Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises wouldn’t want to repeat under their ownership.
Fernandez continues to grow under Danny Rohl, making the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year this season, and recently made his debut for the Nigerian national team.

Andrew Cavenagh has reason to smile at Rangers
Fernandez will surely bring in a hefty profit for the Gers, considering the noise around him.
The 24-year-old defender was signed from Peterborough United for around £3million last summer and could potentially go on to bring in an eight-figure sum at Ibrox.
At the start of the season, the Light Blues were being criticised for seemingly paying over the odds for the Nigeria international, but their investment may now yield a fruitful return.
| Statistics | Emmanuel Fernandez |
| Apperances | 22 |
| Goals | 5 |
| Accurate passes per game | 44.0 (88%) |
| Clean sheets | 9 |
| Interceptions per game | 1.4 |
| Tackles per game | 1.7 |
| Total duels won per game | 6.5 (69%) |
Fernandez has formed an exceptional partnership with Nasser Djiga in recent weeks and the duo now have the opportunity to lead the Glaswegian outfit to the William Hill Premiership title.
Speaking to the Daily Record on 19 April, Adam said, “Of course, everybody has a price and money talks. You have to do the right deals for the football club. And if somebody comes with silly money, I think then they would have to look at it.”
Danny Rohl set for Emmanuel Fernandez heartbreak at Ibrox
Rohl has shown immense faith in Fernandez since his appointment at Rangers, turning the defender into a critical cog in his success in Govan.
It’s clear that the German manager has immense faith in the defender, and speaking about him earlier in April, the 36-year-old head coach said, “He’s now scored six goals for us, he’s calm on the ball, he is better and better also against the ball. There’s a reason why I put him in and I trust him. I’m happy with his development.”

Fernandez is the type of player any manager would arguably love to build their team around, but the Light Blues may not have the centre-back for long if a top team decides to break the bank for him.
While Rohl will surely be counting on Fernandez to be a part of his plans at the Glaswegian outfit for the foreseeable future, fate could potentially have a different plan for both.
