Rangers must note Sunderland failure as deal eyed for Joe Gelhardt
Rangers have been linked with a move to sign Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United.
The Gers will be fixated on winning the Scottish Premiership title, though some considerations will have already been made ahead of the summer window.
Danny Rohl will be looking to have his squad strengthened for another title charge, and among the list of targets will be attacking players.
Replacing Mikey Moore may be a priority should he return to Tottenham after his loan spell, though other areas of the attack will also be considered.
And with Gelhardt one of those linked with Rangers, they must take note of what has happened with his career so far.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Sunderland spell should be of concern to Rangers
Gelhardt has had an excellent campaign with Hull City, and that level of quality should not be discredited.
He has 13 goals and four assists in the Championship, which is a return that any attacking player would be proud of.
| Championship | Gelhardt |
| Starts | 31 |
| Goals | 13 |
| Assists | 4 |
| xG | 10.64 |
| Chances created | 29 |
But for Rangers, they must take note of how that success has emerged, and a lot of it is in regard to their style of play.
Hull rely a lot on transitional play and playing without the ball, whereas Rangers tend to dominate possession more often than not.

It was the same for Gelhardt when he had a loan spell at Sunderland, and he managed just six goal involvements in 20 Championship appearances.
They dominated possession in games, and that limited the impact that Gelhardt could have, and it would be a similar story for him at Ibrox.
Verdict: Should Rangers sign Gelhardt?
It comes down to two factors, though one certainly more than the other.
How much would he cost? It was claimed earlier in the year that it could cost around £5million to prize him away from Elland Road, which would be a gamble.
At that price, it may be worth the Light Blues looking elsewhere.
But the other consideration has to be where he would play. Gelhardt would struggle to play the same role as Youssef Chermiti, which is more than likely where he would be asked to play.
