Rangers: Jayden Meghoma’s contract examined ahead of imminent Brentford return
Rangers will soon part ways with Jayden Meghoma when he returns to Brentford.
The 23-year-old completed a temporary switch to Ibrox in the summer to add to Russell Martin’s defensive options at the time.
He came in and has played a semi-regular role after facing competition from the likes of Dujon Sterling and James Tavernier.
Things have certainly turned around for the Light Blues since the introduction of Danny Rohl, and the full-back has played a role in that.
Just as things have got going, Meghoma will soon return to Brentford after his loan spell ends, as we assess what we know about his current deal at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What is Jayden Meghoma’s contract situation at Brentford?
The 19-year-old came in from the Bees in the summer as another young loanee from the Premier League alongside Mikey Moore.
After initial frustration over bettering the other side’s young talent, fans have taken to the full-back somewhat as the season has gone on.
| Stat (Scottish Premiership 25-26) | Jayden Meghoma |
| Appearances | 27 |
| Minutes played | 2040 |
| Goal involvements | 5 |
| Chances created | 19 |
| Defensive contributions | 113 |
The Englishman has already made 42 appearances for the Gers and could have a key role between now and the end of the campaign.
It is a make-or-break period for Rohl’s side, and the loanee has to continue to perform if he wants to secure a Scottish Premiership title.
That could all happen before his Brentford return, where his future seems secure as his current deal lasts until the summer of 2028, with the option of a further two years.
As part of that deal in West London, he is reportedly paid a weekly wage of £15,000 and a yearly salary in the region of £780,000.
Meghoma still has work to do at Rangers, but there will be questions over a potential return heading into the summer window.
Could Meghoma sign for Rangers permanently?
There have been mixed reviews of the young defender this season, but he certainly has room to grow.
That may be enough to tempt the Light Blues in over the summer if there is a deal to be done with Brentford.
An alternative for James Tavernier will be required at some stage, as he isn’t getting any younger, but Meghoma may not be that guy.

It will ultimately be interesting to see what Rohl wants to do and whether he thinks he can find another Tuur Rommens in the summer.
