Derek Ferguson can’t understand negative Rangers criticism for Spain training camp
Derek Ferguson believes it’s a good thing for Rangers to go to Spain for their warm-weather training camp.
Danny Rohl and his first-team squad have travelled to Marbella on their week off ahead of the post-split fixtures in the William Hill Premiership.
Ferguson expected the German manager to get to work with his players and possibly come back with renewed spirit in the final stretch of the season.
Celtic were criticised for something similar during the COVID-19 lockdown, leaving the UK for a warmer climate, eventually failing to beat Steven Gerrard’s Govan side to the league title.
Rohl’s circumstances in Spain are clearly different and the former Sheffield Wednesday boss will surely hope the trip galvanises his team in pursuit of glory.

Ryan Naderi spotted in Rangers team picture in Spain
Ryan Naderi has picked up an injury at Ibrox, which could potentially rule him out for the rest of the season.
Despite the German striker’s fitness concerns, he has been spotted in Spain with his teammates, though it doesn’t seem he’s actively participating in training.
In one of the team photos the Govan side posted on X on 17 April, the former Hansa Rostock star can be seen in the middle, standing at the back.
| Statistics | Ryan Naderi |

It makes complete sense for Rohl to use the Scottish Cup weekend to work on his tactics and possibly improve certain aspects of the Glaswegian outfit’s game, with silverware up for grabs this season.
Speaking on Open Goal on 16 April, Ferguson said, “How is it not [a good thing to go away]? It gives the manager an opportunity to be with the players, work on a few things, come back refreshed. What’s negative about that? I don’t know.”
Tuur Rommens ready to lead Ibrox charge
Tuur Rommens was also spotted in the team photo in Spain and it looks like the Belgian left-back may be back fit to face Motherwell on 26 April.
The former Westerlo star has had an immediate impact at Rangers since signing in the winter transfer window, quickly becoming a fan favourite.

There are high expectations from the defender in G51 and his performances can undoubtedly lead the Gers to glory.
The Glaswegian outfit have faced several adversities in the current campaign, but all will be forgotten if they do what was once considered unthinkable under Russell Martin — lift number 56 at Falkirk Stadium on 16 May.
