Falkirk chief Jamie Swinney can’t help but apologise after statement on Rangers showdown

Falkirk executive Jamie Swinney has apologised following Rangers‘ 6-3 win on Sunday afternoon.

The Bears looked to have stumbled in their quest for the Scottish Premiership title, but completed a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to turn the tide at Falkirk Stadium.

Danny Rohl’s side have looked to be a different beast in recent weeks, becoming ruthless in front of goal.

The newfound quality could not have come at a better time for the Ibrox club, who now gear up for the league split fixtures, with a nice break before them.

Supporters will no doubt be buzzing after Rangers’ win against Falkirk, but the Bairns chief executive has had to apologise to his own fans for some unwanted scenes in the home end.

Why has Jamie Swinney issued an apology after Rangers’ clash?

Falkirk’s failure to hold onto a 2-0 lead against Rangers will hurt their fans; however, they were also left upset by what happened in the stands.

With supporters wanting to watch their side, Gers fans were able to secure tickets in the home end of Falkirk Stadium as Rangers secured the 6-3 win.

Additionally, according to the Bairns, there were reports of sectarian singing from the away supporters.

Swinney has now apologised for Falkirk fans having to deal with both incidents, pledging to work with the appropriate organisations to ensure it does not happen again.

Taking to X, the Bairns chief stated: “We apologise profusely to our fans for what occurred within our ground yesterday.

“I assure all of our fans that lessons will be learned and that we will consider a variety of measures to control what we can control for future games. Your support will never be taken for granted.”

Falkirk fans will hope those words are not hollow, but for the Gers, they may have shot themselves in the foot ahead of the final day.

Rangers fans could miss out on final-day celebrations

After the incidents on Sunday, Falkirk are now set to ramp up its security for Rangers’ final game of the season in Stirlingshire.

Of course, this fixture could have huge implications and be one where the Bears could secure the Scottish Premiership title.

Supporters will undoubtedly want to be inside the ground to be part of the celebrations.

However, with Falkirk placing stricter measures on tickets and security, it will be a lot harder for Gers fans to get into the home end, as they achieved at the weekend.

Fans, who are unable to get away tickets, may have to sit this one out and instead watch on TV.
