Rangers: Dermot Gallagher has no doubt over goal vs Falkirk as footage analysed
Rangers were rightly awarded their opening goal against Falkirk in the William Hill Premiership on Sunday.
In the 42nd minute, Tochi Chukwuani halved the Gers’ deficit going into the break, but Nicolas Raskin’s cross in the build-up was scrutinised by officials for potentially going out of play.
Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has no doubts over the decision, with the linesman arguably in the perfect position to spot to make the call.
While the Irishman was being pressed on the need for goal-line technology across the whole area, he pushed back and gave the on-field officials the benefit of the doubt.
Danny Rohl beat John McGlynn’s team 6-3 in an enthralling fixture at Falkirk Stadium on 12 April, but rival fans will undoubtedly have questions over the referee’s performance.

Hearts, Rangers and Celtic pull off unusual feat in William Hill Premiership
Hearts and the two Old Firm clubs won their respective games on the matchday for only the second time this season.
It has been one of the strangest league campaigns in Scotland, with the league title anyone’s at this point.
Now that the Gers and Celtic have found some stability, the Jam Tarts are feeling the heat in the William Hill Premiership, setting up an exciting end to the season.
| Falkirk | Statistics | Rangers |
| 51% | Posession | 49% |
| 1.67 | xG | 3.72 |
| 2 | Big chances scored | 5 |
| 0 | Big chances missed | 2 |
| 284 | Accurate passes | 266 |
All three teams will play each other post-split, and Rohl has the chance to pull off something special after taking over an abysmal Govan side, which was all over the place under Russell Martin.
Speaking on Sky Sports Scotland on 13 April, Gallagher said, “You’ve also got the assistant at the top of the pitch behind the corner flag. So he’s looking right along. He’s got the best view. You wouldn’t need goal-line technology there. He’s right on the line. He says no. That’s a good indication for me.
“There’s the assistant at the top of the pitch. He’s got the best view. It’s not foolproof, but bear in mind, you’ve shown three different angles and you can’t show me one angle that proves that guy wrong.”
Danny Rohl has work to do away from Ibrox
Rangers are headed to Spain for their mid-season warm-weather training camp, as they have a break before facing Motherwell at Ibrox on 26 April.

In the first half at Falkirk Stadium, it looked like the Gers were about to suffer a massive blow in their title charge, but some heroic performances after the break turned things around for them.
The Light Blues have shown inconsistency in their displays in multiple matches under the German manager and that can’t be allowed to happen in the final five games.
Rohl must find a way to curb the Glaswegian outfit’s tendency to drift and lose concentration in games if he wants to lift silverware at the end of the season.
