Chris Sutton: Celtic can’t win Scottish Premiership title unless Rangers fall apart

Chris Sutton doesn’t believe that Celtic can win the Scottish Premiership ahead of Rangers and Hearts ahead of the split.

Rangers pulled off a sensational 6-3 win against Falkirk on the road on Sunday, fighting back from two behind to seal a huge three points.

Celtic struggled past St Mirren on Saturday afternoon, while Hearts fought back from behind to beat Motherwell 3-1 at Tynecastle.

It promises to set up a huge end to the season after the Scottish Premiership returns, with Scottish Cup action returning next weekend at Hampden.

Danny Rohl has been sensational in turning Rangers around, but can he finish it with the title?

Celtic can’t win Scottish Premiership right now

Sutton believes that nobody fears Celtic this season, and their past record against Rangers and Hearts could see them fall behind in the title race soon.

Speaking live on Sky Sports Scotland on Sunday, the ex-Hoops striker shared exactly why he doesn’t see the title returning to Parkhead this season.

“If Martin O’Neill is right with his calculations, he says they need to win all five games, Celtic can’t win the league,” Sutton said.

“With their level of performance, they just can’t. Unless the wheels fall off Hearts and Rangers in their positions.

“Because performance is important and they haven’t beaten Hearts or Rangers all season.”

With Youssef Chermiti still likely haunting Celtic, all eyes will be on that final Scottish Premiership showdown of the season very soon.

Rangers are on fire in Scottish Premiership

Wow, going two goals behind early was possibly the exact shot in the arm that Rangers needed.

Falkirk were sensational, it has to be said, but the away side were nowhere near the standards they have set and looked lethargic and sorry for themselves.

Tochi Chukwuani’s controversial goal before half-time, as well as whatever Rohl said, turned that around completely, and it was a sensational second period.

Celtic and Hearts would have loved what they saw initially from Rangers, but they will be somewhat frightened by the contrast of the second half.

With a much-needed break now coming up, Rohl will want to get some of his injured troops back, knowing that if they win five games, they win the Scottish Premiership title.

Forget Celtic.
