Barry Ferguson doesn’t want to see Rangers ignorance cost them in Luke Graham race
Barry Ferguson has been left by Dundee defender Luke Graham amid interest from Rangers.
The former Gers midfielder and interim manager doesn’t want to see ignorance from the Govan side when it comes to Scottish talent clouding their judgment of the left-footed centre-back.
Ferguson has lauded some of the 22-year-old’s unique qualities and believes he has the quality to play for the Old Firm clubs.
Andrew Cavenagh is driving negotiations for Graham ahead of the upcoming transfer window, but it remains to be seen whether the Light Blues can get a deal over the line for him.
Danny Rohl should demand defensive reinforcements at Ibrox in the summer and the Scotland Under-21 international could undoubtedly strengthen the Glaswegian outfit’s squad.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Rangers should have plan in place for defensive overhaul
Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Derek Cornelius and Jayden Meghoma will return to their parent clubs at the end of the season once their loan deals at the Gers expire.
The Light Blues’ recruitment strategy under Kevin Thelwell last summer is likely to come back to bite them in the upcoming transfer window, as they undoubtedly need a defensive overhaul.
It would make sense for the Glaswegian outfit to pursue Graham to add more depth to their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
| Player | Rangers future |
| James Tavernier | Contract expires May 2026 |
| Max Aarons | Loan expires end of season |
| Nasser Djiga | Loan expires end of season |
| Derek Cornelius | Loan expires end of season |
| Jayden Meghoma | Loan expires end of season |
John Souttar and Emmanuel Fernandez will be the only two natural centre-backs for the Govan in the summer as things stand and they will certainly need to address that issue.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 10 April, Ferguson said, “I’ve watched him now for a couple of seasons. He’s an actual left sider, which you don’t get much of. And I like the fact he’s been through the system in terms of the leagues. He’s gained a lot of experience. He’s a good size and every time I’ve watched Dundee live, he’s stood out.
“He’s been very good and I’m not surprised there are a few clubs interested in him. Sometimes we’re a bit ignorant of the fact that there are players here who could certainly do a job at a Rangers or Celtic, but we just don’t take the opportunities.”
Danny Rohl has another Ibrox transfer priority
Ryan Naderi scored his first league goal for Rangers against Dundee United but had to be substituted at half-time and it now looks like he could be out for the season.

Youssef Chermiti and Bojan Miovski have failed to be reliable goalscorers for the Gers in the current campaign, leaving the recruitment team with another apparent priority in the summer.
Andrew Cavenagh may need to release more funds to hopefully finally get a deal over the line for a number nine capable of getting over 20 goals for the Light Blues in a season.
The German manager has done an impeccable job at the Glaswegian outfit, but a quality centre-forward could potentially turn them into favourites for the title next season.
