Rangers get clarity over Nasser Djiga’s future with buy option non-existent in latest Wolves reveal
Rangers have received an answer as to whether Nasser Djiga could return to Ibrox ahead of next season, with Wolves deciding on the player’s future.
Djiga has had a tumultuous time in Glasgow, but his partnership with Emmanuel Fernandez under Danny Rohl has been a bright spark for the Gers.
Rohl has insisted on multiple occasions that he would like for the Wolves loanee to remain beyond this season.
Finances may put Rangers off over a permanent move, but the Govan-based outfit may have sought an extended loan.
However, ahead of Rangers’ summer window, those chances look to have been shot down.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
What has been said about Nasser Djiga’s future?
Djiga looks set to return to parent club Wolves in the summer, and it appears chances of a loan back to Rangers are slim in the immediate future.
The defender has been a key player as the Bears chase a 56th Scottish Premiership title, and the centre-back could leave as a hero.
| Nasser Djiga for Rangers in the SPFL 2025-2026 | Total |
| Games played | 19 |
| Clean sheets | 7 |
| Duel success | 65% |
| Errors | 0 |
| Balls recovered per game | 4.0 |
While it was always likely he would return to Molineux initially, according to the reports from reliable Wolves journalist Liam Keen via X, manager Rob Edwards is looking to assess the Burkinabe defender ahead of next season.
The defender will likely feature for the Old Gold throughout their pre-season, meaning that Rangers may have to wait until August to find out if they have any chance of bringing Djiga back to Ibrox.
Additionally, the report also reiterates that Rangers have no buy clause inserted into Djiga’s loan, meaning any advances would have to be negotiated.
This is despite reports the Bears could sign him for £8million.
What are the chances of Wolves sending Djiga back to Rangers?
If Djiga’s performances since coming back from AFCON are an indicator of the base level he showcases on the pitch, then the chances seem incredibly slim.
At the level the Burkina Faso international is playing at, the likely scenario is that Wolves become impressed with their current loan star and decide to keep him for their inevitable season in the Championship.

Of course, that would be a blow for Rohl, who would have to seek an alternative centre-back in the upcoming window.
Hopefully, Djiga can mark his short Ibrox stint with silverware and become embedded into Rangers folklore.
