Rangers: Scottish Premiership split fixtures offer hope despite more away ties than Ibrox fixtures

Rangers have learned their Scottish Premiership post-split fixtures with more of their games away from Ibrox than at home.

With the Scottish Premiership title on the line, the next few weeks of the same are certain to have drama.

Danny Rohl’s side will have to travel to face both Hearts and Celtic away from home, making life tougher for the Bears than their two title rivals.

Additionally, they host home matches against Motherwell and Hibernian, with an away game against Falkirk to end the season.

Ahead of Rangers’ league run-in, Ibrox News has a look at the previous results from the same fixtures this season and whether there is more hope than it seems with three away games.

How did Rangers do in the same post-split fixtures earlier in the season?

Results in the post-split stage can, of course, change, but looking back can give us a rough idea of what can be expected.

For Rangers, they might head into the split with plenty of hope compared to Hearts, and that is despite the Jam Tarts beating the Bears. Meanwhile, Celtic’s hopes are also looked at.

With Rangers still to play Falkirk, if Rohl’s side finish this weekend’s last pre-split match with a win, they would enter the final phase of the league with 12 points in the same fixtures earlier in the season.

Meanwhile, the Jam Tarts would have 10 points. As the Edinburgh club has just a one-point gap, the same outcomes would result in the Gers winning the league title.

Additionally, Celtic lost three of the five same fixtures this season already, earning just six points.

This will surely provide Rohl with some optimism, especially if they could avoid defeat this time around at Tynecastle, making Derek McInnes’ side’s life tougher.

Overall, while three of Rangers’ games are away from home, including trips to Tynecastle and Celtic Park, it is not all negative.

Rangers must continue with recent performances

In recent weeks, Rangers have looked more dangerous, and that will only worry both Celtic and Hearts.

If Rohl’s side can continue to follow their own trajectory, then wins at Tynecastle and Celtic Park are both possible, with goals flowing consistently now.

However, if the Gers can match their past results and then pick up at least one point against McInnes’ men, hopes will be further amplified.

With a three-way race for the title, the next few weeks may be one of the most exciting in modern Scottish football history.

Hopefully, Rangers are on the better end of this story.
