Emmanuel Fernandez transfer: Rangers brace for ‘significant offer’ as replacement identified
Emmanuel Fernandez’s replacement seems to have already been identified by Rangers as they brace for a summer exit.
The Gers defender has reportedly been eyed by the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund after his impressive form in Govan.
A report from Rangers Review on 6 April claims that the Gers recognise that a “significant offer” will probably test their resolve.
It states that Dundee’s Luke Graham has been considered by the club to replace the newly-capped Nigeria international.
Rangers will not want to lose Fernandez, as he has proved so important this season, but they may be powerless to stop him from leaving.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Why Rangers may not have it simple in chase for Graham
Rangers have scouted Graham before, but the fact that they are looking at him internally suggests that they really like what they have seen.
The report mentions that they are committed to investigating options within the Scottish game, as Graham would certainly fit that bill.
| Graham’s stats this season | Scottish Premiership |
| Matches | 31 |
| Tackles per game | 1.6 |
| Interceptions per game | 1.3 |
| Clearances per game | 6.7 |
| Ground duels won | 60% |
| Aerial duels won | 70% |
It also states that Danny Rohl‘s side faces stiff competition for his services, with clubs in the top five leagues looking at him, so it may be a simple pursuit.
Why Graham would be a brilliant option for Rangers
Graham would be a very solid option to replace Fernandez, if he leaves Ibrox to move on to brighter things, against the Gers’ wishes.
He has adapted very quickly to the Scottish Premiership with Stephen Pressley’s side, and he has missed just one game.
Availability is clearly not an issue, and neither is his ability on the ball, as he has proven that he is comfortable playing the ball out from the back, something which Rohl values in his defenders.

He also has the physical attributes to star for the Light Blues, standing at 6’3, and he has proven his efficiency when it comes to duels on the ground, too.
If the former Peterborough man moves on, Rohl and Co could do much worse than bringing the 22-year-old in from the Dens Park outfit.
They will have to act fast, though, as clearly, there is a lot of interest in the former Falkirk man, and they could miss out if they can’t convince him before others get a word in.
