Rangers want Joe Gelhardt as Leeds United link to help seal transfer arrangement
Rangers have kept a close eye on Joe Gelhardt ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Gers are hunting for their first Scottish Premiership title in five years as they go toe-to-toe with Hearts at the top of the table.
It now seems clear that focus isn’t just on the present, but also on the future, with just weeks remaining of the campaign.
That has prompted the Light Blues to go out in search of potential new signings ready for the end of the season at Ibrox.
Gelhardt has been a long-term target for Rangers and continues to be tracked ahead of a potential switch from Leeds United.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Rangers tracking Joe Gelhardt progress
Danny Rohl has a wealth of attacking talent at his disposal right now after signing the likes of Ryan Naderi and Andreas Skov Olsen in January.
Despite that, it doesn’t appear that the German head coach is entirely satisfied with his squad’s goal return this season.
| Rank | Player | Goals scored |
| 1 | Youssef Chermiti | 9 |
| 2 | James Tavernier | 8 |
| 3 | Mikey Moore | 6 |
| 4= | Bojan Miovski | 5 |
| 4= | Emmanuel Fernandez | 5 |
The summer window may provide the ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss with the opportunity to add further quality to his forward line, ready for a first full campaign in Govan.
That could begin with the Hull City loanee, as Alan Nixon reported to his Patreon on Sunday that Rangers are watching Gelhardt right now.
The Englishman is having an excellent season after providing 17 goal involvements for the Tigers, leading the Ibrox club to track his progress.

The Gers have an “obvious link” to the forward’s parent club, Leeds United, with the 49ers having a say in both sides, which could lead to a loan deal or even a permanent move.
Gelhardt has been heavily linked to Rangers previously, and it now looks as if the G51 outfit could finally land his signature in the summer.
What could Leeds United talent Gelhardt add to Rangers?
The attacker was highly rated throughout his time at Wigan Athletic before earning a move to Elland Road in the summer of 2020.
He has never truly been afforded a fair chance in Yorkshire and is now on his third loan spell away from the Whites, and his second with Hull.

This season has been his best and has allowed him to showcase his true strengths in finishing, dribbling and as a set-piece taker.
He likes to get on the ball and dribble forward before cutting inside onto his stronger left foot to get a shot away.
Gelhardt isn’t the best in the air, but alongside either Naderi or Youssef Chermiti, he could prove to be an excellent asset at Ibrox.
