Rangers: Ryan Stevenson pleads with ‘SPFL dafties’ to tamper with Hearts fixture
Rangers should be scheduled to play Hearts in the final William Hill Premiership game of the season.
Ryan Stevenson feels it’s a no-brainer to set up a mouth-watering clash between the Gers and the Jam Tarts at Tynecastle Park to potentially decide the title.
The monumental fixture is staring the bosses of Scottish football right in the face, but the former Jambos ace believes the “dafties” at SPFL will disappoint everyone.
All eyes would certainly be on Danny Rohl and Derek McInnes’ team if the title race goes down to the wire and is decided on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign.
Dundee United are up next at Ibrox on 4 April and the German manager will surely see the next seven games as finals to do the unthinkable in Govan.

SPFL must tamper with top-six Rangers split for their own good
Scottish football isn’t the global powerhouse it once was, with the quality of players and teams arguably deteriorating over the years.
It has undoubtedly been reinvigorating to see Hearts compete with the two Old Firm clubs in the William Hill Premiership and potentially become the first team outside the Glaswegian clubs in 40 years to win the league.
If the title race comes down to the last day of the season, with the Gers being Hearts’ closest rivals in the table, the SPFL should probably tamper with the top-six split, which is usually done randomly.
| Team | Matches played | Goal difference | Points |
| 1. Hearts | 31 | 28 | 66 |
| 2. Rangers | 31 | 30 | 63 |
| 3. Cletic | 31 | 22 | 61 |
| 4. Motherwell | 31 | 26 | 54 |
| 5. Hibernian | 31 | 13 | 48 |
| 6. Falkirk | 31 | -1 | 43 |
Imagine the number of people who will want to tune in to see the Jam Tarts possibly winning or losing the title to the Light Blues in such mad fashion.
Writing in the Daily Record on 2 April, Stevenson said, “Organise Hearts against Rangers at Tynecastle as the last game of the season and organise it now. I’ve a bad feeling it won’t happen and that’d be so disappointing.
“There isn’t another country in the world that wouldn’t snap that opportunity up. What a fitting way for a memorable season to conclude. I hope I’m wrong, but I fear these dafties at the SPFL make it something no good like Hearts against Falkirk and Rangers and Motherwell just to burst the bubble.”
Danny Rohl has Ibrox game-changer to win William Hill Premiership
Rohl can pull off the impossible at Rangers by lifting silverware at the end of the campaign, considering where they were before his arrival.

Russell Martin got the Gers off to one of their worst league starts in history, with the gap between the Gers and Hearts being 13 points at one point in the season.
The German manager has brought the best out of the likes of Mikey Moore at Ibrox, who could potentially clinch the league for the Light Blues with his magnificent displays.
Everything is still in the Glaswegian outfit’s hands at the moment and the Tottenham Hotspur loanee has the ability to take the games by the scruff of the neck.
