Rabbi Matondo exit ‘99.9 per cent’ done as Rangers could yet land money from Ibrox flop
Rabbi Matondo’s Rangers exit is reportedly “99.9 per cent” complete as fresh details emerge on his move to SK Brann.
It emerged on Sunday that the Wales international has agreed to cut short his Rangers contract ahead of it expiring in the summer.
Norwegian club Brann have until the end of Wednesday to finalise a deal for Matondo, with an eight-month contract said to have already been agreed.
Minor details now remain, but everything points towards Matondo being confirmed as a Brann player ahead of the deadline.
And it may well be that Rangers get some money back for Matondo down the line.

Rabbi Matondo set to sign for Brann on Wednesday
Matondo was called up by Wales for their March fixtures, but was left out of the final squad for Thursday’s World Cup qualifying playoff loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Wales take on Northern Ireland in a dead-rubber friendly on Tuesday, and it may well be that Matondo is announced as a Brann player the following day.
| Season | Competition | Appearances | Goals |

| 2023‑24 | Scottish Premiership | 19 | 5 |
| 2024‑25 | Scottish Premiership | 6 | 2 |
| 2025‑26 | Scottish Premiership | 1 | 0 |

As per BT Sporten journalist Mads Boyum via X, it is “99.9% certain Matondo will become a Brann player”.
Only something “unforeseen in the final work of the transfer” will prevent a move from going through.
And it is also added that Matondo will arrive in Bergen as early as Wednesday to finalise the move, with Rangers in line for a percentage of any fee landed from the winger’s next move.
What we know so far on Matondo’s Rangers exit
A player departing two months before the season is over is strange, but it is a move that makes sense for all parties.
Matondo is clearly unfancied by Danny Rohl, even when fit, and so he is just eating up a wage for doing nothing at Ibrox.
As can be seen in the Sofascore graphic below, Matondo has appeared just once in all competitions this season.

Rangers will be glad to get those wages off their books early and, while there was never any chance of landing a fee from Brann, the resale clause is smart business.
However, Matondo is only signing an eight-month deal with Brann, so it seems unlikely he will be be sold during that period.
Still, the Welshman’s exit will finally draw a line under what has been an extremely underwhelming career in Glasgow.
