Derek McInnes must be sick of Danny Rohl as Rangers can take top spot

Derek McInnes could see Hearts lose their top spot in the William Hill Premiership to Rangers on Saturday.

The Jam Tarts have been in first place for 28 of the 31 matchdays in the current campaign, but the Gers have an opportunity to pip them, at least for 24 hours, by beating Dundee United at Ibrox on 4 April.

Since Danny Rohl’s arrival at the Light Blues, they’ve been the most in-form team in the Scottish top flight, winning 16 and losing just one of 23 games under the German manager.

When the former Sheffield Wednesday boss arrived at the Glaswegian outfit, they were 13 points behind the Jambos, and fans in G51 had no hope of competing for the league title, let alone winning it.

Rohl faces a Dundee United team who are in decent form, losing just one of their last five matches in the William Hill Premiership, and Jim Goodwin got the better of Martin O’Neill at Tannadice Park recently, but the Govan side will be confident going into the game.

Rangers manager Danny Rohl can be enemy number one for Hearts

Hearts are looking to end the Old Firm duopoly in Scottish football, but the Gers could potentially rain on their parade.

It’s been 40 years since a team other than the two Glaswegian clubs won the league title and McInnes can become the first manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to do that.

Top three in William Hill Premiership

The Jam Tarts haven’t faced a major threat to their top spot for most of the 2025-26 campaign, but they could briefly be second soon.

Many have considered the Jambos to be the favourites to win the William Hill Premiership this season due to the turmoil at the Old Firm sides in recent months.

McInnes must now surely be sick of Rohl, given the Gers’ resurgence since his arrival, and the German manager can pull off a miracle by winning the last seven games of the season.

Danny Rohl has one undroppable in William Hill Premiership title run

Mikey Moore has been a revelation at Rangers after a slow start to his career in Govan.

The Tottenham Hotspur loanee has arguably been the Light Blues’ best player in the current campaign, pulling the strings in the final third in the majority of matches.

Rohl has relied on the 18-year-old to be the game-changer for the Glaswegian outfit this season and he will certainly be pivotal to their success.

If Moore can continue to lead the Gers up top with his quality on the ball, supporters in G51 could be about to witness one of the craziest endings to a season.
