Rangers will be keen to make summer move for Jens Hjerto-Dahl after strong 2026 Tromso start
Rangers will be itching for the summer transfer window to open so they can move for Jens Hjerto-Dahl, as the January-linked midfielder has made a brilliant start to 2026 with Tromso.
The upcoming summer transfer window is set to be an exciting one at Ibrox, with Rangers appearing to have a considerable amount of cash to spend.
Danny Rohl will be hoping he’s the beneficiary of that, but will know that he might need to deliver a Scottish Premiership title in order to retain his place in the Ibrox dugout.
The 49ers Enterprises certainly seem keen to invest in the playing squad, as evidenced in the recent winter window with significant fees splashed on Tuur Rommens, Ryan Naderi, and potentially still Andreas Skov Olsen if his permanent option is triggered.
Another to arrive in the winter transfer window was Tochi Chukwuani, and his capture pretty much ended any realistic chance of signing Dahl this season, but that could all change again come the summer.
🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨
The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
How has Jens Hjerto-Dahl started 2026 with Tromso?
Dahl won’t have dropped off Rangers’ transfer radar since then, and if he did, then he’s no doubt put himself back on it with the fashion he’s started the 2026 Eliteserien in.
The Norwegian youth international continues to turn out for Tromso, and they opened their new league season on 15 March with a 4-0 win over Fredrikstad.
| Dahl’s 2025 Eliteserien stats | Result |
| Goal contributions | 8 |
| Big chances created | 5 |
| Pass accuracy | 82% |
| Dribble success | 55% |
| Key passes per game | 1.0 |
Dahl scored four times in 30 league appearances last season, and he’s already 75 per cent of the way to matching that return from one game so far this term.
That’s because the 20-year-old bagged a hat-trick against Fredrikstad, and if that wasn’t enough, he also registered an assist in Tromso’s 2-1 cup defeat to KFUM on 7 March too.

As per Sofascore, Dahl took seven shots against Fredrikstad with five being on target, and he also completed all 11 of his passes inside his own half successfully.
Dahl also missed one big chance, meaning he could very well have had four goals in the match, as well as completing his lone dribble attempt successfully and carrying the ball 17 times.
Rangers must sign Dahl and figure midfield order out later
One potential roadblock to a summer deal for Dahl is the sheer volume of players Rangers have in their midfield department at the moment.
However, that shouldn’t put Ibrox chiefs off too much, as room can always be created, and especially for a talent like Dahl.
The young midfielder looks to have a very, very bright future ahead of him, and may not be available to Gers for an affordable price past this summer.
So, with a talent like him, Rangers have to simply get his signature secured and worry about who needs to go in order to make room after, as he could be the type of addition that wins Premiership titles.
