Nicolas Raskin: How Belgian media reacted to Rangers star’s performance in win vs USA
Nicolas Raskin took the pitch for Belgium as they beat the United States 5-2 on Saturday, with the media reacting to the Rangers midfielder’s performance.
Danny Rohl will want as many of his international players to return to Glasgow in form, with the league split around the corner and the Bears just three points off leaders Hearts.
Raskin, who is out on national team duty, was called up for this international break with the Red Devils taking on the USA and Mexico ahead of the 2026 tournament.
While these games are only friendlies, players such as Raskin will be fighting to keep their place in the starting XI for the competition in North America.
However, for the G51 outfit, ahead of Rangers’ final matches, they will only care if the 25-year-old is in good form.

What the Belgian media has said about Nicolas Raskin vs USA
Raskin would have been delighted to start for Belgium in America, getting a first taste of football in the USA ahead of the World Cup.
However, it appears the Rangers star had a mixed evening in Atlanta despite his national side winning 5-2.

Ibrox News has combed through multiple outlets from Raskin’s home nation, and Rangers manager Rohl may not be too pleased.
Raskin seemingly failed to impress with his performance based on the overall verdict in Belgium.
Outlet Nieuwsblad rated Raskin a 5/10, stating: “Could not replicate the good performances from the qualification campaign. Should be able to neutralise an opponent’s attack more often.”
HLN was more positive over the Rangers midfielder, providing him with a 6/10, saying: “Deflected a promising shot from De Bruyne, unluckily. Sacrificed himself for the team. Ran a lot, worked hard.”
Meanwhile, Voetbalkrant, while not providing a rating, has attached blame to the 25-year-old for allowing the USA the opening goal.
They said: “After 38 minutes, the deserved lead for America was finally on the scoreboard following a corner kick. Onana misjudged the ball, and McKennie appeared in front of Raskin, who allowed it to happen too easily. This time, Lammens could not make the save.”

Raskin’s World Cup role is still likely safe for Belgium
While Raskin’s poor performance against the USA will not fill Rohl with too much confidence, the midfielder’s position as a starting player for the Red Devils is likely still secure.
The Rangers star started in six of their eight World Cup qualifying matches, averaging 76 minutes per appearance. Under Rudi Garcia, the 25-year-old has been a key player.
Despite a chance to redeem himself being on the horizon, Rohl may be hoping Raskin gets rested in Belgium’s upcoming friendly against Mexico.

The match kicks off at 2 am Glasgow time on 1 April, with the Bears’ game against Dundee United coming just a few days later on 4 April.
Hopefully, he can come through that match unscathed, as there won’t be much time for Raskin to recover.
