Rangers won’t have £8m Nasser Djiga dilemma after heroics under Danny Rohl

Rangers will surely feel Nasser Djiga is worth the possible £8million price tag from Wolves.

Danny Rohl has brought the best out of the centre-back at the Gers since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations, where he didn’t play a single minute for Burkina Faso.

The 23-year-old has formed an impressive partnership with Emmanuel Fernandez, keeping John Souttar out of the starting lineup.

While the Light Blues have only signed Djiga on loan from the Premier League side, many fans in G51 now want to see him return to the Glaswegian outfit at the end of the season.

Andrew Cavenagh will look to back Rohl in the upcoming transfer window and the Burkinabe defender has made a case for his future in Govan.

🚨 RANGERS TRANSFER UPDATE 🚨

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.

Djiga started poorly at the Gers but is finally starting to look like the £10m acquisition Wolves made from Red Star Belgrade in February 2025.

In the current campaign, the centre-back has made 18 league appearances, making the Team of the Week once and keeping seven clean sheets, as per Sofascore.

Djiga’s record in the William Hill Premiership this season

The Light Blues have seen their form turn around under Rohl, losing just one game in the William Hill Premiership since his appointment, and the Burkina Faso international has been pivotal to that success.

It isn’t surprising to see the former Sheffield Wednesday boss rely on Djiga to play his style of football at the Glaswegian outfit, with the defender completing 93 per cent of his passes and 100 per cent of his dribbles.

The centre-back’s pace makes him a tough prospect for opposition attackers, and the Wolves loanee has been dribbled past just 0.1 times, won 1.4 tackles per game, 70 per cent of his ground duels and 61 per cent of his aerial duels per game in the league this season.

Writing in the Rangers Review on 27 March, Four Lads said, “Djiga’s potential £8m price tag suddenly looks far less daunting if he sustains this level. At 23, with blistering recovery speed and a growing resilience after being benched and rebounding from early mistakes, he has built a strong partnership with Fernandez.”

Andrew Cavenagh already hints at major Ibrox summer spending spree

Cavenagh has raised a Rangers share issue to invest in the squad after spending heavily over the last two transfer windows.

It’s become clear that the American owners at Ibrox aren’t shy about splashing the cash on players, which should bode well for Djiga.

The centre-back’s price tag may not be a stumbling block for the Glaswegian outfit if they’re serious about making him one of the cornerstones of their team.

For now, the focus is on the final seven games of the campaign and the Govan side’s summer plans could evolve depending on how the title race pans out.
