Danny Rohl has obvious Rangers goalscoring worry in title race as Youssef Chermiti fails again

Danny Rohl should be worried about Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi failing to score for Rangers against Aberdeen in the William Hill Premiership on Saturday.

The Portuguese striker failed to find the back of the net for the second consecutive league game at Ibrox on 21 March despite having multiple opportunities.

In the 4-1 victory, the former Hansa Rostock centre-forward was also unable to break his duck in the William Hill Premiership for the Gers, failing to score in his first seven league games.

Rohl has relied on Chermiti to lead his line at the Glaswegian outfit, but while the attacker has performed against Celtic and Hearts, he’s failed to do so against other sides.

Youssef Chermiti could cost Rangers William Hill Premiership title

While the Gers secured the three points against Aberdeen after goals from Tochi Chukwuani, Mikey Moore, Nicolas Raskin, and James Tavernier, Rohl has an obvious area that needs improvement.

Chermit played 86 minutes at Ibrox before being substituted by Bojan Miovski, attempting two shots, with both off target.

The 21-year-old missed two big chances to punish the Dons and lost possession nine times, as per Sofascore.

Naderi registered one assist, but his passing accuracy was 60 per cent, he lost possession 19 times and one of his shots was blocked while the other was on target.

As for Miovski, he hasn’t been given many opportunities by Rohl in recent weeks and it doesn’t seem like he’ll have a massive role to play in the final stretch of the season.

Speaking on Open Goal on 24 March, Andy Halliday said, “The only worry… again, your two strikers not scoring. I know they don’t need to score every week because the most important thing is winning the game. But you spent around £13m on the two strikers. Chermiti misses an absolute sitter.”

Danny Rohl must rely on one area for Ibrox glory

Nasser Djiga and Emmanuel Fernandez have formed an exceptional defensive partnership for Rangers in recent matches.

With the two centre-backs putting in solid performances, Rohl will surely focus on the Gers’ defensive resoluteness as they look to catch up to Hearts this season.

The Jam Tarts are three points ahead of the Light Blues with seven games to go, and the top-six split will undoubtedly be pivotal to determine who will be crowned champion.

With the Glaswegian outfit clearly lacking firepower, it will arguably be up to the backline to ensure Rohl has the best chance of getting the better of opposition managers in the final stretch of the campaign.
