Scottish Premiership: Rangers could win title at Parkhead as SPFL wish made ahead of split
The Scottish Premiership title race could be set to go down to the wire, and there could be a scenario where Rangers or Hearts win it on the final day.
Hearts secured their position at the top of the standings on Saturday thanks to a 1-0 win against Dundee, while Rangers dispatched Aberdeen 4-1 at Ibrox.
Danny Rohl’s side would leapfrog Celtic into second, with their fierce rivals falling to a 2-0 defeat away at Dundee United on Sunday.
Traditionally, the league leaders play out their final match of the season on home soil, setting up a possible Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle, while Rangers could make the trip to Parkhead.
If things stay as they are after the split, there could be a huge title showdown across the two cities, with at least one club having the opportunity to secure the biggest win of all against their rivals.

Danny Grainger urges SPFL to stick with tradition
Danny Grainger became a Hearts hero in 2012, as he helped fire them to the Scottish Cup. Looking to lift their first piece of silverware since then, the former defender discussed the prospects of a big final day.
“If it’s not going to be at Tynecastle, then I would love it to be at Easter Road. Again, that probably adds another bit of pressure to it as well,” he told the Daily Record.
| Date | Result |
| 10/02/26 (H) | 1-0 W |
| 27/12/25 (A) | 3-2 L |
| 04/10/25 (H) | 1-0 W |
| 02/03/25 (A) | 2-1 L |
| 26/12/24 (H) | 2-1 L |
On the plus side for Rangers in this situation, Hearts’ recent record at Easter Road is poor, having not picked up three points away at their rivals since 2023.
“Imagine a final day of Celtic vs Rangers and Hibs vs Hearts? That’s a real showcase for Scottish football and an unbelievable day to decide the title,” added Grainger.
“If Hearts did it there, it would be some trip back to Gorgie, as they did after our Cup Final win.”
Though for as much as Hearts are holding firm at the top of the standings, Rangers could replace them in first before they play at Livingston next, as they play the day before.
That is a whole host of different pressures.
Rangers and Hearts could be set for huge derby day
The stakes cannot get much higher than a day with both the Old Firm and Edinburgh derby possibly taking place, with the title on the line across both cities.
For Rangers, though, after Celtic have had the last laugh at Ibrox in successive weeks this month, Rohl’s side could have the chance to right the wrongs at Parkhead on the final day.

For Hearts, the pressure would skyrocket. Whether at Tynecastle or Easter Road, a clash against their arch rivals with the title on the line would be the last thing wished for.
Rangers have already beaten Celtic away this term, and the current league standings see the reigning champions further away from the title picture for the time being.
If things stay as they are at the top, the final day of the term could be something to watch out for, with the Gers having the opportunity to win the title at the stomping ground of their nemesis.
