Steven Naismith waxes lyrical about Mikey Moore on Sportscene after Rangers win vs Aberdeen

Steven Naismith has piled the praise on Mikey Moore following his excellent display for Rangers against Aberdeen.

Moore shone at Ibrox once again on Saturday, as Danny Rohl’s side beat Aberdeen 4-1 on home soil, keeping them in the hunt for the title.

The 18-year-old arrived on loan from Tottenham last summer and has continued to grow into his role in Glasgow.

Rangers sit three points behind league leaders Hearts, and the winger is set to play a huge part as they look to mount a title challenge.

Former Kilmarnock, Rangers and Hearts forward Naismith has since been full of praise following the youngster’s impressive display.

Mikey Moore’s league stats for Rangers

Speaking on BBC Sportscene following the victory against Aberdeen, Naismith piled the praise on the youngster.

“Perfect start to the second half, he’s (Moore) probably been Rangers’ best player for the last three/four months,” said Naismith.

“It’s a good goal, poor from Aberdeen, but it’s the desire to get forward. Moore, playing with loads of confidence, is two-footed; he moved the ball between the feet and reels defenders in.”

The Tottenham loanee has scored six times since his move last summer, with Naismith saying: “You probably can criticise his finishing at times, but that’s a lovely one.”

With Rangers in the hunt for their first title since 2021, Moore is set to play a huge part heading into the season’s final months.

Mikey Moore has continued to grow for Rangers

Joining the club at just 17, there was no doubt that Moore was raw upon his Ibrox arrival.

Though, he has continued to grow in stature as the minutes have continued to come – becoming a massive outlet out on the flank for Rohl.

As showcased by his Sofascore graphic from Saturday’s clash against Aberdeen, the winger is simply all-action.

When things don’t quite come off, he is not someone who backs down.

Always looking to make things happen, Moore is becoming a pleasure to watch on the left-hand side, and is undoubtedly benefitting from the trust given by Rohl.

Rangers will be looking to secure his signature once again over the summer – something that a strong finish to the campaign would aid.

And with Moore’s current form in mind, he will play a crucial part in that, as Rangers look to mount a title challenge.
