Rangers do what’s needed vs Aberdeen but Danny Rohl has reason to be ‘furious’

Rangers boss Danny Rohl will be unhappy at the manner of the goal his side conceded in the 4-1 win over Aberdeen, according to Michael Stewart.

The Gers welcomed Stephen Robinson’s side to Ibrox on Saturday with the hope of replicating Hearts’ earlier Scottish Premiership result.

They did exactly that in a largely comfortable victory where a James Tavernier free-kick stole the show with the last kick of the game.

That didn’t stop the Gers from showing a soft side as the away side had their moments to leave the Govan faithful concerned.

Aberdeen got on the scoresheet off the back of that, leaving Rohl with reason to be angry with his men at Ibrox.

Danny Rohl to fume at Aberdeen goal at Ibrox

There was immediate pressure on the Govan outfit as the Dons turned up due to Hearts’ 1-0 victory over Dundee earlier on Saturday.

That didn’t show on the pitch as four goals and a lion’s share of possession made the difference to secure three much-needed points.

The Dons made things easy for Rangers for the most part, so the fact that they were able to score makes things all the more frustrating.

That is the feeling of Stewart on Premier Sports, who suggested that Rohl will be incensed by his side conceding such a sloppy goal at Ibrox.

He said: “He’ll be furious. They scored a goal early in the second half, thinking the game would be basic control.

“All of a sudden, to concede a goal in that fashion so quickly after going two up, it adds an air of nervousness that didn’t need to be there.”

Rangers may have secured victory over Aberdeen, but these sorts of moments could seriously cost the Gers in their title gambit.

Who’s to blame for Rangers conceding vs Aberdeen?

It may have been Tochi Chukwuani who gave the ball away, but there was a general sloppiness to the home side in the passes up until that moment.

Emmanuel Fernandez laid the ball into Nico Raskin inside the penalty area, who tried to be clever and eventually found Mikey Moore.

The Tottenham loanee’s pass to Chukwuani was hardly great, and then the earlier goalscorer’s ball was cut out by Toyosi Olusanya.

Dennis Geiger was the man to take advantage, but it is these lapses in concentration that will annoy Rohl the most.

All players mentioned played their part in the clean sheet being thrown in the bin, with simple mistakes costing Rangers once again.

They’re just lucky it didn’t mean anything in the end.
