Rangers: Djeidi Gassama could count himself lucky as Andreas Skov Olsen doubt emerges vs Aberdeen
Rangers winger Djeidi Gassama could find himself lucky to start against Aberdeen as Andreas Skov Olsen is now a doubt.
The Frenchman has been far from impressive lately, and it would not have been a surprise to see Danny Rohl replace him in the starting lineup on Saturday.
Wide players at Ibrox have been a mounting issue for Danny Rohl, with only Mikey Moore performing on a consistent basis.
Gassama had started the season strongly, particularly in the Champions League qualifiers, but has yet to re-find that form.
However, after the latest team news update ahead of Rangers’ clash versus Aberdeen, Gassama may have just been handed a lifeline.

What has been said about Andreas Skov Olsen for Rangers vs Aberdeen?
Although Skov Olsen himself has not been in the greatest of form, it was expected the Dane would come back into the starting lineup against Aberdeen.
Gassama had failed to make the most of his chance against St Mirren, with Skov Olsen replacing him after 58 minutes in Paisley.
| Statistic | Andreas Skov Olsen | Djeidi Gassama |
| Appearances | 7 | 30 |
| Minutes per game | 55 | 68 |
| Goals | 1 | 2 |
| Assists | 2 | 3 |
| Key passes per match | 1.7 | 1.1 |
However, despite the poor showing, the French winger may now be in line to start in back-to-back league games.
Rohl has confirmed via his pre-match press conference that Skov Olsen had fallen ill throughout the week, casting doubt on his potential involvement in Saturday’s clash.
Additionally, Moore has been dealing with a “small problem” in the lead-up to the game.
With Gassama preferred over Oliver Antman, the 22-year-old is the obvious solution for the right-wing position. He can consider himself incredibly lucky to receive this opportunity after his last appearance.
How did Gassama perform last time out vs Aberdeen?
Doubts over Gassama’s potential influence against Aberdeen are only furthered based on his last two games against the Dons.
The Frenchman played 180 minutes against the northeast side over both fixtures in January but did not impact proceedings much.
He took four shots in total across the two fixtures, racking up just 0.17 xG, while he also averaged just a 76 per cent passing accuracy.

Over the 180 minutes, he lost possession 37 times and only completed six out of 15 dribbles attempted.
Aberdeen is certainly not an opposition Gassama is fond of playing, but with injury concerns, he may have to start.
