Andreas Skov Olsen pays the price for Rangers form after Denmark snub
Andreas Skov Olsen has been left out of Denmark’s squad for the upcoming international break after his poor run of form for Rangers.
The Dane has joined on loan for the rest of the season from German side Wolfsburg, with there being an option to sign him permanently for £8.6million.
Skov Olsen arrived at Rangers with an impressive reputation after a successful spell at Club Brugge before his initial move to Germany.
On an international level, the 26-year-old has made 40 senior caps for Denmark, but on this occasion he’s been left at home.
Skov Olsen has been disappointing for Rangers and definitely needs to do a lot more in the Scottish Premiership if he wants any hope of earning another call-up in the future.

The numbers that show why Andreas Skov Olsen hasn’t been called up by Denmark
Danny Rohl was intent on bringing Skov Olsen to Govan, and it’s clear that he has a profile that suits his system.
However, the 26-year-old has failed to step up, and he hasn’t scored in his last six games in all competitions.
He has gone from hardly featuring for Wolfsburg to becoming a key component of a title-challenging side, and it’s not a shock that he has taken a little bit of time to adjust.
| Stat | Skov Olsen |
| Appearances | 9 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 2 |
Skov Olsen has won 74 per cent of his ground duels per 90 minutes in the Scottish Premiership, and it’s clear that Rohl values his defensive stability over Gassama’s trickery out wide.
But the bottom line is that his output is not good enough, and with just seven shots in the league so far, he isn’t getting into good positions in the final third.
It’s a big personal blow for Skov Olsen, as Denmark facing North Macedonia in their World Cup semi-final playoff.

The next two weeks could see his country qualify for the showpiece tournament in June, but he’ll unfortunately play no part in getting them there.
Thelo Aasgaard faces similar disappointment with Norway
In September, Aasgaard scored four goals for Norway in their 11-1 World Cup Qualifying win over Moldova, becoming the first Rangers player to score a hat-trick on international duty.
Seven months later, he has been left out of the squad for pre-World Cup friendlies against the Netherlands and Switzerland.
But it isn’t a surprise in the slightest, as he hasn’t been trusted by Rohl to start consistently in Govan.

He has only created 18 chances in the Scottish Premiership, while being dispossessed of the ball 20 times.
Aasgaard’s expected assists total of 1.46 is far from productive, and it’s clear that he doesn’t impact the game enough when he is on the pitch.
Both players need to pick themselves up after the disappointing news, and if they can discover some form for Rangers, then it will benefit them on the international stage.
