Mohamed Diomande: Rangers set for nervous wait to know full extent of injury in coming hours
Mohamed Diomande could know the full extent of his injury at Rangers in the coming hours.
Daily Record journalist Keith Jackson revealed on 17 March that the 24-year-old and the Gers are set for a nervous 24 hours to determine the extent of the Cote d’Ivoire international’s knock at Ibrox.
Diomande picked up a shoulder injury against Celtic in the Light Blues’ Scottish Gas Scottish Cup quarter-final loss, and may miss the rest of the season if surgery is required for a possible dislocation.
Danny Rohl welcomed Connor Barron back to action against St Mirren in the William Hill Premiership as the Govan side won 1-0, but the German manager will now surely anxiously be waiting for an update on his other midfield option.

Rangers bad luck laid bare after Mohamed Diomande injury
Barron had established himself as a key player for the Gers this season before picking up a knee injury in January.
Rohl was able to bolster his squad with Tochi Chukwuani at Ibrox in the winter transfer window, but he won’t be able to sign reinforcements to replace Diomande right now.
The Ivorian ace arguably hasn’t been as influential as last season, but he’s still made 25 appearances in the William Hill Premiership for the Gers, playing in a deeper role alongside Nicolas Raskin at times.
It remains to be seen what the final prognosis on the midfielder’s injury will be.
The Glaswegian outfit can’t seem to catch a break, with Diomande possibly set to be sidelined for a significant period just as Barron has returned from his fitness issue.
Speaking on Hotline Live, Jackson said, “In an ideal world, you don’t want to get Barron back into the mix only to find out that, one in one out, with Diomande disappearing. I think this will be a nervous 24 hours for Diomande and for Rangers to establish the full extent of this.”
Who can redeem themselves in Mohamed Diomande’s absence?
Thelo Aasgaard has been a bit-part player for Rangers in recent weeks, failing to start in any of their last six games in all competitions.
At one point, it looked like the Norway international was a key player for Rohl, but the German manager doesn’t seem to trust him anymore.

The 23-year-old’s underwhelming displays have led to frustration among supporters, who were expecting big things from him.
Now, the former Luton Town playmaker may get a chance to redeem himself at the Glaswegian outfit, with Rohl surely in need of some creativity in the engine room if Diomande is absent for long.
