Rangers: Chris Sutton shares how Danny Rohl has shot himself in the foot – ‘Don’t understand’
Chris Sutton has warned Danny Rohl to stay focused on Rangers, believing his questioning of Celtic’s tactics has horribly backfired at Ibrox.
The Gers boss raised eyebrows after openly quizzing why his side’s arch rivals did not do more to avoid crashing out of the Europa League at the hands of Stuttgart.
Martin O’Neill’s outfit were thumped 4-1 at home in the first leg and, despite making an early breakthrough in the return fixture in Germany, they were unable to claw back the deficit.
That prompted Rohl to wade into the debate by voicing his surprise with the nature of the performance, but Sutton has now accused him of shooting himself in the foot unnecessarily.
Rohl is under pressure at Rangers, and the pundit says his comments will turn up the heat.

What has Chris Sutton said about Danny Rohl?
Shortly after Celtic were knocked out of Europe, they fought back from two goals down to claim a last-gasp point at Ibrox, courtesy of Reo Hatate’s 91st-minute leveller.
They then progressed to the Scottish Cup semi-finals at the expense of their Old Firm foe, triumphing on penalties before skirmishes broke out between both sets of supporters.
While Rangers are only three points behind Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts with eight games remaining, Sutton has told Rohl to take note of his own team’s shortcomings instead.
“I think Danny Rohl has had too much to say for himself in recent times,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Live. “Danny Rohl opened his mouth and was telling Celtic how they should have played in Europe. This came from a guy whose record in Europe was pretty dour.
“Rangers fans have ramped up the pressure, because they are thinking, ‘why don’t you keep your mouth shut, Danny? Why’re you getting involved in how Martin O’Neill should play?'”
Sutton then added: “Results have been good since he came in and Rangers are in a title race. But just when they are getting somewhere, why would you shoot yourself in the foot?
“I don’t understand that.”

While the Celtic legend’s words will certainly sting, Rohl would do well to listen. Any further faux pas may distract from Gers’ title bid, just when the finish line is in sight.
Sutton has a point about Rohl
Earlier this month, Sutton pointed out Rangers’ fragile mentality and creativity, and Rohl is yet to banish those concerns despite his strong work since replacing Russell Martin.
The 36-year-old has certainly got the Light Blues moving in the right direction, but there remain obvious questions over his tactics and in-game changes.
However, he has already done enough to be entrusted with the reins for the start of next season, and Gers must push with all of their might in their bid to chase down Hearts.
Winning the title would quieten the noise around the manager and prove his critics wrong.
