Rangers: Danny Rohl right not to fancy Bojan Miovski as St Mirren snub speaks volumes
Andy Halliday believes Danny Rohl’s decision not to bring on Bojan Miovski earlier in Rangers‘ 1-0 win at St Mirren proves he doesn’t fancy him.
The forward was introduced as an 86th-minute substitute in Paisley on Sunday but barely had a touch of the ball as the Light Blues closed the gap on Hearts to just three points.
Tuur Rommens’ first-half tap-in was enough to wrap up the crucial victory at the SMiSA Stadium, but again, Rohl’s side were wasteful in attack and fortunate not to be punished.
Judging by his current predicament, Miovski could leave Rangers, with his snub when Gers were hunting a second goal speaking volumes about his uncertain future.

The latest breaking news on signings, departures, and Danny Röhl’s primary targets.
Bojan Miovski surely set to leave Rangers
Damningly, Miovski hasn’t started a game under Rohl since the start of February, while he also did not get off the bench in their back-to-back Old Firm showdowns against Celtic.
With Rangers stuttering against St Mirren, the German head coach opted to bring on Thelo Aasgaard for Youssef Chermiti, accompanied by a change in formation.
Throwing on Miovski would have been a like-for-like change, but the fact that Rohl instead tinkered with his tactics suggests his days at Ibrox are almost certainly numbered.
The decision was the subject of discussion on Sportsound, with Steven Thompson asking Halliday if it means that Rohl simply doesn’t fancy him.
Halliday replied: “It doesn’t look that way. You’ve seen last week, Rangers are desperate for a goal against Celtic in the Scottish Cup, and he remains on the bench.
“You’re expecting a like-for-like change [against St Mirren], but it seems like Thelo Aasgaard is going to be playing off Ryan Naderi as a lone striker.”
| Competition | Matches played | Goals | Assists | Minutes played |
| Scottish Premiership | 23 | 4 | 1 | 1,147 |
| Europa League | 8 | 1 | 0 | 236 |
| SFA Cup | 2 | 4 | 0 | 180 |
| League Cup | 2 | 1 | 0 | 126 |
While he was eventually brought on, his brief cameo in Paisley suggests that Rohl no longer trusts Miovski to perform ahead of both Chermiti and Naderi.
Miovski doesn’t deserve Rangers reprieve
It sounds brutal, but Rangers must move on quickly from the North Macedonian.
He may have scored 26 goals in all competitions for Aberdeen during his last stint in Scotland in 2023-24, but he has failed to replicate those feats in Govan.
In truth, he looks like an inferior and less confident player.
Yes, there have been glimpses, but his return of just four goals in the Scottish Premiership this season isn’t good enough, and it was all too easy for Naderi to usurp him after joining.
Rohl simply cannot afford to carry passengers as he looks to restore the Light Blues to past glories, and dressing room unity will be crucial in this mission.
The obvious solution, then, is to gently move Miovski on at the end of the season, allowing him the opportunity to make a fresh start away from the Ibrox spotlight.
