Mohamed Diomande reacts as Borussia Dortmund terms agreed
Rangers’ Mohamed Diomande has reacted to news that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha has signed a new contract for the German side.
Nmecha has played for the Black and Yellow since 2023, with his new deal set to keep him at Dortmund until 2030.
The 25-year-old had been attracting interest throughout Europe due to his performances across the 2025-2026 season so far.
Recently, the Gers’ Ivorian midfielder has been failing to do the same on a consistent basis.
The Bears star was brilliant against Kilmarnock but followed that up with a less impressive performance in Rangers’ cup exit to Celtic.

Mohamed Diomande reacts to Felix Nmecha contract news
Borussia Dortmund and Nmecha confirmed the news of the midfielder’s new deal throughout their social media, with their Instagram post catching the eye of Diomande.
The Rangers midfielder has dropped a like on the post, showcasing his support.
While it may simply be a sign of respect from Diomande, it is an interesting interaction considering the pair have never been teammates.
However, the two have faced off against each other in a friendly before.
While Nmecha was at Wolfsburg in 2022, and Diomande was at Nordsjaelland, they competed in a 1-1 draw with football across most of Europe suspended due to the World Cup.
This represents the only meeting between the two to date; however, they could share the same pitch again in the summer if Diomande and Nmecha get called up to their national sides.
That is due to Germany and the Ivory Coast being drawn into Group E for the 2026 World Cup. So that could put added context behind the interaction.
What is Mohamed Diomande’s contract situation at Rangers?
When it comes to Diomande’s own contract at Rangers, the Ivory Coast midfielder still has two years left on his deal.
The Bears are in no imminent danger of losing the 24-year-old on a free transfer due to his deal lasting until 2028.
Diomande only joined Rangers in 2024, so the 49ers may wait to see how the Ivorian progresses at Ibrox over the next year.
However, Diomande’s recent display against Celtic left little to be inspired by.

If he can bounce back and perform at a high level, they could opt to reward him with a longer contract with improved terms.
However, if the opposite is the case, Diomande could be moved on in the summer of 2027 to avoid missing out on a fee.
