Danny Rohl punishes Andreas Skov Olsen in three changes – Rangers predicted XI vs St Mirren

Andreas Skov Olsen could pay for his poor run of form when Rangers face St Mirren in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash.

Danny Rohl’s side are winless in their last three matches in all competitions, with several new players continuing to underwhelm at Ibrox.

The Bears are currently six points adrift of league leaders Hearts, and with just nine games left to play, Rangers need to step up and claim maximum points from their remaining matches.

When Rangers face St Mirren on Sunday, Skov Olsen might not be named in the team, which is thoroughly deserved.

Djeidi Gassama replaces Andreas Skov Olsen in three changes

The Dane has joined on loan for the rest of the season from German side Wolfsburg, with there being an option to sign him permanently for £8.6million.

Rohl was intent on bringing Skov Olsen to Govan, and it’s clear that he has a profile that suits his system.

However, the 26-year-old has failed to step up, and he hasn’t scored in his last five games in all competitions.

Therefore, Djeidi Gassama could replace him out wide, as the Frenchman offers a lot more dynamism and flair.

As for the rest of the team, Nasser Djiga, who has impressed in recent months, could be dropped for John Souttar.

Mohamed DIomande was subbed off at half-time in the Scottish Cup loss to Celtic, meaning Tochi Chukwuani might resume his role in midfield.

The rest of the side should remain the same, with Rohl unlikely to fully rotate for such an important match.

The Nasser Djiga and John Souttar dilemma continues for Danny Rohl

Since returning from AFCON in January, Djiga has stepped up after a poor start to his first few months in G51.

On the other hand, Souttar has been shaky in several games, making mistakes against Motherwell, Hearts and Celtic in recent weeks.

Despite their contrasting fortunes, the Scotland international continues to be picked in the big league games, while Djiga has solely been used in the cup or in league matches of less importance.

Several fans have already questioned Rohl’s tactical decisions, and this is the latest call that has angered supporters.

It feels as though Djiga can’t do much more to prove himself, and that the second centre-back spot in the team isn’t being contested solely on merit.

Souttar will likely start against St Mirren, but it’s safe to say that it isn’t warranted.
