Danny Rohl in danger of Ibrox heat after damning Rangers defeat to Celtic
Keith Jackson wonders what the future holds for Danny Rohl as Rangers lost to Celtic in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on Sunday.
The Daily Record journalist believes the German manager is at risk of coming under scrutiny after the Gers lost the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on penalties on 8 March.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the former Sheffield Wednesday boss face the heat if he’s unable to make a statement in the William Hill Premiership.
Rohl’s team are out of the Scottish Cup as the Hoops advance to the semi-finals, and the Govan side’s only hope of winning silverware now lies in the league, which is undoubtedly a tall order.

Martin O’Neill fortunate after what’s seen in Rangers loss vs Celtic
Martin O’Neill made quite a few changes to the Celtic starting lineup, with a few enforced upon him after injuries to Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney.
The Parkhead side were without arguably two of their best players, and their lack of quality was on show at Ibrox.
While the Gers dominated possession in the quarter-final and created several scoring opportunities, their decision-making in the final third was abysmal.
In the previous Old Firm derby that ended 2-2 in the league, it was Youssef Chermiti’s heroics that saw the Light Blues score twice before Celtic made a comeback in the second half.
With two back-to-back disappointing results against their bitter Glaswegian rivals, fans have expressed discontent about Rohl and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds in G51.
Speaking on Hotline Live on 8 March, Jackson said, “You do look at it and wonder, if Rangers can’t beat Celtic when Celtic have been reduced to this kind of state, what does it say about Rohl and his chances now in the longer term? I think there’s a danger for Rohl that unless he recovers really quickly in the league, I think he’s going to feel a bit of heat. I mean a real bit of heat.”
Ibrox faithful have one major criticism of Danny Rohl
What the last two fixtures have shown Rangers fans is that Rohl’s in-game management needs to improve drastically.
In the William Hill Premiership, the German manager had no answer for Celtic after the break as O’Neill made a couple of changes.
With the Hoops on the ropes for most of the 120 minutes in the cup tie, the 36-year-old head coach was unable to push the Light Blues over the line, with some of his substitutions raising eyebrows.
James Tavernier and Djeidi Gassama, who came on as substitutes, missed their penalties, with the Gers likely to regret their selection in the shootout.
