Mohamed Diomande shocking, Skov Olsen not much better – Rangers vs Celtic player ratings
Rangers have been beaten 4-2 by Celtic on penalties, ending their run in this season’s Scottish Cup.
The two bitter Glaswegian rivals got together for the second Sunday running, after their enthralling 2-2 draw at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership last weekend.
Danny Rohl’s side threw away a two-goal lead in the second half that day, and so were even more determined to put that right and get one over on Martin O’Neill’s men this Sunday in the Scottish Cup.
However, this renewal certainly was one to remember for all the wrong reasons, as Rangers put 24 shots on the Celtic goal to no reward, whilst the Hoops only managed one shot in the entire 120 minutes.
Rohl made two changes against Celtic, with Nasser Djiga and Mohamed Diomande coming in for John Souttar and Tochi Chukwuani respectively.

Mohamed Diomande puts in dismal showing vs Celtic
Few Rangers players will be happy with their individual performances against Celtic, and one of them certainly won’t be Mohamed Diomande.
Brought into the starting XI on Sunday, the midfielder set the tone for his afternoon’s work after just two minutes, when he picked up a yellow card.
Diomande was expected to play a big role against Celtic in the build-up to Sunday’s game, but the Ivorian international looked way off the pace, in what was the latest in a season filled with inconsistent showings.

In recent games such as Ludogorets, Motherwell and Kilmarnock, the 24-year-old has looked every bit of a top quality midfield player.
However, this wasn’t the first time he’s been dragged off at half-time by Rohl either, with the last time that happened being in the 2-1 away defeat to Hearts on 21 December last year.
Diomande has been in and out of the starting lineup all season, but his performance on Sunday will now surely resign him to a backup role for the remainder of the campaign.
Andreas Skov Olsen flatters to deceive again vs Celtic
Much was made of Rangers’ winter capture of Andreas Skov Olsen on loan from Wolfsburg, with the Danish international having some excellent domestic and international pedigree on his CV.
There was a real expectation that he’d come in and instantly show his quality in Glasgow, and perhaps prove that he’s a level above the Scottish Premiership, but that hasn’t happened yet.
Indeed, there has been flashes of his talent, but there’s also been numerous performances from the 26-year-old that have seen him go completely missing.

Sunday was one of those days for him, as Rangers piled plenty of attacking pressure on Celtic, but Skov Olsen just couldn’t find a way to impact the game, on an afternoon where quality was in desperately short measure.
Skov Olsen wasn’t on the same page as his Gers comrades all afternoon, and was probably lucky to stay on the pitch for as long as Rohl allowed him to, before being replaced by Djeidi Gassama on 66 minutes.
Gassama must’ve been licking his lips watching Skov Olsen’s performance, as he will surely feel confident that he can win favour back with Rohl and oust him from the starting XI moving forward.
