Chris Sutton shares what was ‘woeful’ about Celtic win v Rangers…

Chris Sutton blasted Celtic’s attacking display despite their victory in Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash with Rangers.

The two Glaswegian rivals played out a frustrating Cup tie at Ibrox on Sunday, with both sides sure to be highly disappointed with their respective performances.

It took penalties to separate the two, after Rangers huffed and puffed but couldn’t convert one of their many waves of attacks into a goal, whilst Celtic barely laid a glove on Gers.

As such, this was one of the more forgettable Old Firm derby games in recent memory, but in the end, Celtic won’t care one bit, as it’s they who progress through to the Scottish Cup semi-finals.

What did Chris Sutton say about Celtic’s attack vs Rangers?

Sutton was full of praise for Celtic after their second-half recovery against Rangers in the Scottish Premiership last Sunday, which saw Gers throw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2.

However, the Celtic legend-turned pundit was far from pleased with what he witnessed from the Hoops’ attack force on Sunday.

Remarkably, Celtic registered just one shot on goal in the entire 120 minutes, which wasn’t on target either, compared to Rangers’ 24.

And, taking to his X account during the game, Sutton blasted the performances from the Hoops’ forward players.

“As an attacking force Celtic have been woeful..,” Sutton said.

It goes without saying then, but Celtic’s attacking unit must be considerably better against Motherwell on 14 March, in what is another huge game towards the top of the Scottish Premiership.

As for Rohl and Rangers, they will be kicking themselves for letting so many opportunities to win the game pass them by, in what was an alarmingly poor show of ruthlessness in front of goal.

Hearts will be laughing watching Rangers v Celtic

Sunday highlighted some major issues in both Rangers and Celtic’s respective teams, with Gers extremely wasteful in attack, whilst Martin O’Neill’s men were non-existent in that department.

Perhaps the big winner of the day was in fact Hearts, who must have been watching that game thinking to themselves: ‘we can’t lose the title to either one of these two, surely?’.

With Derek McInnes’ men not in Scottish Cup action, they were able to get some further rest into their legs, all the while seeing their confidence no doubt grow that they’re the best team in Scottish football this season.

Hearts’ next game is away to Kilmarnock on Saturday, whilst Rangers travel to St Mirren this coming Sunday hoping to close the current six-point gap the Jam Tarts have over them.
