Rangers’ Mikey Moore transfer hopes altering by the week as Tottenham spiral continues

Mikey Moore is developing into a star for Rangers, but it may well be that he is desperately needed at Tottenham next season.

The youngster made the switch to Ibrox on a season-long loan from Tottenham last summer and has continued to impress under Danny Rohl.

The 18-year-old made 10 Premier League appearances for Spurs last term, and was sent up to Glasgow in search of minutes as he continues his development.

Scoring five times and registering two assists in the league this term, Moore has continued to grow in importance as Rangers fight for their first title since 2021.

But the ongoing disaster in North London could have a huge say in where he is playing his football next season.

Disastrous Tottenham season comes at wrong time for Rangers

It was reported at the end of last month that Rangers’ chances of keeping hold of Moore rest on the result of Tottenham’s campaign.

It was suggested that Spurs would be willing to allow Moore to go back out on loan once again over the summer, as long as first-team minutes are assured.

Though the current Premier League situation sees the Lilywhites sit 16th in the standings, having gone on a remarkable winless run stretching back to December.

As of now, things are collapsing at Spurs following their recent 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace, with relegation seemingly a possibility given the respective form of sides around them.

But ahead of a potential relegation, the recent report also outlines that the North London club would be looking to keep Moore at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as they look to bounce back to the top flight.

Though based on what Rangers fans have seen this season, another season in Glasgow would be much more beneficial for his career than a term in England’s second tier.

Why second Rangers spell would be much more beneficial for Mikey Moore

Throughout the campaign, Moore has continued to grow into his role out on either flank for Rangers, and is blossoming into a fantastic young talent.

The talent was obvious during his limited minutes with Spurs, but the chance to play week in and week out has undoubtedly fast-tracked his development.

Coming up with big derby moments and last-minute exploits, he has become a trusted member of Rohl’s squad at just 18.

If the unthinkable were to happen, and Spurs get relegated, the mood around the place will hit new levels of toxicity, with the pressure firmly placed on the club to bounce back immediately given their status among England’s ‘big six’.

At Rangers, Moore would gain further experience in a title-chasing team, while also likely having the opportunity to play European football.

The youngster is still raw, and Rangers may just be the best place to continue his development – supporters will certainly be cheering Tottenham on until the end of the season with this in mind.
