‘I have covered Scottish football for years, Rangers and Celtic on course for biggest failure in history’

Rangers and Celtic not winning silverware this season would be an amazing prospect.

PLZ Soccer pundit Peter Martin believes it would be the biggest failure in Scottish top-flight history if neither of the Old Firm clubs wins anything.

Hearts are leading the William Hill Premiership by five points right now with nine games to go in the league.

St Mirren won the Premier Sports Cup after beating the Hoops in the final, and one of the two Glaswegian outfits’ hopes of getting their hands on the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup will end in the quarter-finals at Ibrox as Danny Rohl faces Martin O’Neill again on 8 March.

Danny Rohl in trouble ahead of Rangers vs Celtic cup tie

Rohl has come under criticism from some sections of the Gers’ supporters after Celtic made a comeback in the Old Firm derby to secure a point in the league.

The German manager had no answers as the Hoops dominated the Light Blues at Ibrox in the second half of the 2-2 draw.

Supporters in G51 have been left with a bitter taste in their mouths after that result, as the Govan side have dropped some crucial points in recent weeks.

If Rohl can’t get past Celtic in the Scottish Cup, fans will surely start to question whether he has the mettle to take the Gers over the line and win silverware in the coming seasons.

Both Old Firm clubs are going through unprecedented seasons following managerial changes early on, which could lead to some huge shocks in the remaining competitions.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer on 6 March, Martin said, “Rangers and Celtic win nothing? That would be amazing. I think it would be the most amazing season ever, considering the money these two clubs have at their disposal. It would be the biggest failure in the history of the Premiership.”

Motherwell can be kingmakers in William Hill Premiership

All is not lost for Rangers in the William Hill Premiership despite their six-point gap from the top of the table.

Hearts and Celtic will surely drop more points until the end of the season, with Motherwell likely to play a key role in the top-six split.

Jens Berthel Askou’s team have arguably played the best style of football in Scotland this season and have been dominant against the top sides.

An exciting end to the campaign is surely upon us as the Steelmen could yet have a big say in who wins the league title if they can take points away from the top three teams.
