Rangers have clear financial reason to cross fingers Fashion Sakala contract action is taken
Rangers will be hoping to build on their positive winter transfer window when the summer market opens at the end of the season.
Deals to bring the likes of Andreas Skov Olsen, Tuur Rommens and Tochi Chukwuani to Ibrox look to have been very shrewd moves by Rangers, whilst Ryan Naderi continues to flash his long-term potential too.
Rangers now look to be heading towards a more competitive future in regards to the Scottish Premiership title after finishing some way behind Celtic last term, with Danny Rohl‘s side still in with a big opportunity to lift the trophy this season.
This summer window looks set to be another big one for Gers, with contract decisions looming over the likes of James Tavernier, whilst also having a talented young nucleus of players to build around.

Rangers set to miss out on Fashion Sakala cash windfall
What could really help Rangers when it comes to continuing to build their team of the future this summer is some cash injections from transfer clauses.
That is exactly what they could receive thanks to a transfer that was completed all the way back in the summer of 2023: Fashion Sakala.
Indeed, after spending two seasons in Glasgow scoring 24 goals in 91 appearances, the versatile forward completed a move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha.
The 28-year-old Zambian international has been doing very well over there too, scoring 40 times in 98 games, including 10 strikes in 23 appearances so far this season.
It’s this form that’s reportedly helped put him back on the transfer radar of clubs on these shores, with The Scottish Sun claiming that EFL Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough are tracking him closely.
This will put Rangers on alert too, as it’s understood that the Gers do have a sell-on clause for Sakala that would entitle them to a certain percentage of any sale made by Al-Fayha.
However, there is a slight problem regarding that: Sakala is out of contract this summer, meaning any move to Middlesbrough, or any other club for that matter, would be on a free transfer, stripping Gers of any cash injection possibility.
Rangers could be pondering Sakala swoop of their own
So, Rangers have a clear reason to be crossing their fingers that Sakala signs a new contract with Al-Fayha before the summer window opens, thus preserving their sell-on clause and chance of future riches.
But if that’s not to be the case, then the next best thing might be to plot a transfer reunion of their own with their former star, who proved himself to be a quality player in the Scottish Premiership during his time in Glasgow.
Gers may not decide to trigger Skov Olsen’s reported £8million permanent option this summer, and Mikey Moore is also set to return to Tottenham at the end of the season too.
Therefore, Rangers could be set to lose some key players in wide areas, and so a return for Sakala could have the potential to make an awful lot of sense too.
